USC is not really number 1
 

It's sort of an exercise in faulty logic to keep saying that the number one team in the country is being left out of the national title game.

The only reason USC is rated number 1 is that it started the year ranked in the top 5 and LSU started the year ranked 14th. That's before a single game was played. If LSU had been picked in the pre-season and USC left out of the top 10, BEFORE A SINGLE GAME WAS PLAYED, then USC would be ranked 2nd right now.

So it's completely arbitrary that USC is ranked higher than LSU right now.

LSU is clearly the better team -- every single team USC played this year has 3 or more losses. Think about that. Georgia only has 3 losses because LSU beat them twice. Georgia would spank USC.

Anyone can run the score up on shitty teams. Try running up 34 points on the 4th best defense and number 5 team in the country -- LSU did exactly that.

I'm not making an argument for USC. I do think LSU is the better team... But so many upsets show you that you gotta play the game if you're going to know the outcome. AP and Coaches could have put LSU ahead... They think USC is better.

I think a playoff would be the best way to solve the problem.
