i did say that I needed someone to continue on with the otehr work. how are you going to do this without knowing php?

Depending on the project and how far he was into it, might be quicker to recode than continue on. Certainly if the code wasnt object oriented, well document, or well structured, even in php it may be easier for a new programmer to start fresh then finish up loop holes. Again this of course depends on the size of the project and the amount of work already accomplished.

no i am not starting over, plus I dislike perl. moving machine to machine you always have to redo something. php is portable

you got a point there, what was the original quote the programmer gave you to get this project done from start to finish?

is was an open ended project, I think I have spent maybe 2-2.5k so far
