I have passed on some things based on stufff from here with some people.....

Nope. What I mean is, I've spent and made a good chunk of money on people from this board that seem like total dipshits. On the other hand, I've tried doing business with some of the "respectable" people here on the board, only to realize that they have no business doing business...

Definatly. I have done business with people on here because of their reputation. I just ignore the assclowns...even if I would need a service they are providing. There are enough other people on here that you can choose who you do business with

I wouldn't hold it against someone just because we disagreed on a subject.

I would also take everything into consideration not just one event...sometimes people have bad days.

The only ones I have any real problems with are those who try to fuck with people just for the sake of fucking with them.

And as far as personas go, we both now that there's a lot of "reputable," webmasters who hide behind other nicks to do their dirty work.

I find that more sad than the ones who are just asses out in the open with everyone knowing full well who they are.

people like you or Amp come sometimes come across as complete assholes, but i'd never hesitate to do business with either of you.

it's all in the way you act as an asshole. if you're just flaming people for fun, it wouldn't affect my opinion of you. if you're flaming programs, or trashing people's work/reputation/companies without basis, that would steer me away from you.

Typically I don't care how a person acts here. I will do business with almost anyone. I will admit there are a few extreme cases where I have refused to deal with people but I have to have a burning hatred for that person first.

no matter how they are on gfy, ill still consider talking to them on icq/through email before doing business

No. Business is business. If the person is an asshole on the boards, doesnt mean that he conducts business in a badway. Then again, if the person is nice on boards, he could quite possible be a bad person to deal with.

A GFY persona might deter me from working with someone but I would prefer to make my own judgement after meeting them in person. A face to face talk is where I make my decision, not based over a GFY character.

it helps judge character. you cant judge someone because you dont agree on certain stuff, the only thing i would use to judge is how trustworthy they are. if i've gotten into arguments with someone but they seem trustworthy, i wouldnt hesitate to do business with them if it means that im going to benefit or make $ off of them.

known scam artist.

something i feel will effect the quality of the service. (turnaround time for example, or say poor support).

but if the person has the product or service that i need and it is quality i wouldn't think twice about it.

Yes. Boards are a good judge of a persons character. Also a great place for learning the ins and outs of certain sponsors.
