The End of the BCS System for College Football

There is going to be such an uproar this year......with USC being ranked Number 1 in all the polls yet not being able to contend for the National Championship.........

this will be the year of the illegitimate champion, especially with Oklahoma being in there...............as they got drilled badly yesterday.........

what a travesty...........yet, the administrators of this retarded system have been warned for years of this scenario

and now its finally come to fruition

what a bunch of morons

:ak47:

I have a feeling LSU deserves number 1.... anyone that could have beaten Ole Miss when they were that charged up deserves #1.

Bansheelinks 12-07-2003 03:00 PM

well LSU did their part yesterday by thrashing Georgia.......whom they beat twice now this year.......a top 5 team.........

and Oklahoma laid a giant egg.........no matter what anyone says, you are accountable for the games you play, no excuses.......

and Oklahoma stunk yesterday and should not be admitted to the Nat'l Championship..........this will tar the trophy if they win, despite the rest of their season, which was great.......but you cant deny them being smashed by Kansas State

they got destroyed

In 10 years, people will remember 2003 as the year OU won a national title. Thats it.

Simple fact is that lsu and usc have both lost games as well. No matter who OU plays in the Sugar Bowl, they will be favored.

coming from thier biggest fan

Bansheelinks 12-07-2003 03:10 PM

Come on Bradshaw, admit it.........your team got clocked big time yesterday...........after that, they simply don't deserve it, especially being a title game.........

can you imagine a team winning a nat'l championship yet losing the big 12 title, and not only losing it, but getting crushed.....

lends itself to an illegitimate title.........that is, if they can beat LSU..............after yesterday, don't be so sure

the rest is just excuse making

jennym 12-07-2003 03:19 PM

I don't think there is ANY doubt that LSU should play in the Sugar Bowl. The question is...who should play against them?

Why does USC keep bitching about OU losing the championship game? While I agree that OU shouldn't move on because they lost it, I don't think USC is any more deserving.

-USC did not even PLAY a championship game.

-USC lost to an UNRANKED team

-USC did not even have that tough of a schedule

I think trying to decide between USC and OU is just picking the lesser of the two evils. OU does have less strikes against them than USC does.

Bansheelinks 12-07-2003 03:33 PM

One thing is for sure Jennym........your team is going to have to put up or shut up and beat Oklahoma

no easy feat

jennym 12-07-2003 03:38 PM

I don't think anyone has to put up or shut up. Someone will win...someone will lose. That doesn't change the fact that they are the top 2 teams in the country. If OU loses...they are still an awesome team. If LSU loses...they are still an awesome team.

Why can't people comprehend this very simple idea??

Centurion 12-07-2003 04:37 PM

OH....You all are full of it!!

Kansas State should be ranked #1 and go to the Sugar Bowl.
Why?

They beat the #1 team in the land!
They're a very sweet team!:) (Sugar Bowl don't ya know)
Kansas is the center of the universe!

K-state Wildcats rule!:thumbsup

Bansheelinks 12-07-2003 05:39 PM

Last nite's win was pretty satisfying Centurion.

It was TOTAL DOMINATION of the Sooners.

easyjesus 12-07-2003 05:58 PM

K-State couldnt beat Texas, why should they be #1? Ok, I'll admit Roberson was rusty coming back from the injury when Texas beat em :thumbsup

For a USC fan to say OU doesnt deserve it because they lost to a much improved K-State team, face it fuckers, you lost to fucking CAL, an UNRANKED TEAM. K-State would mop the floor with CAL and USC they way they've been playing over the last month...

Meni69 12-07-2003 07:06 PM

Here's a clue you are the Sooners, you are told you are IN THE SUGAR BOWL not matter what, you play a bad game, you lose, 1 lose, just like USC and LSU
and may I past this
and shut you USC fuckers up
With all due respect to #3 USC, the teams most deserving of invitations to the Sugar Bowl are #1 Oklahoma and #2 LSU
All 3 teams have 1 loss, and USC simply has not beaten anywhere near the caliber of teams that Oklahoma and LSU have beaten:
Based on teams' current rankings, Oklahoma and LSU have each played 2 games vs. better teams than USC's toughest opponent, and they have each played 5 games vs. better teams than USC's 2nd-toughest opponent
USC has not played a current top-15 team, and the Trojans are only 2-1 vs. the current top-40, despite playing #38 and #40
The best team USC has beaten is #18 Washington St., while Oklahoma has beaten #5 Texas, and LSU has beaten #12 Georgia twice
The 2nd-best team USC has played is #38 Cal, which beat the Trojans
Oklahoma and LSU have each lost only to a current top-25 team (#16 Kansas St. and #24 Florida, respectively), and they have combined for 9 wins over teams currently ranked higher than Cal
As the following list shows, USC has posted only 2 of the 10 best wins by these 3 teams (based on teams' current rankings): 1. Oklahoma over #5 Texas, 2. (tie) LSU over #12 Georgia (regular season), 2. (tie) LSU over #12 Georgia (SEC championship game), 4. USC over #18 Washington St., 5. Oklahoma over #19 Oklahoma St., 6. LSU over #20 Arkansas, 7. LSU over #23 Mississippi, 8. Oklahoma over #31 Texas Tech, 9. Oklahoma over #32 Missouri, 10. (tie) USC over #40 Auburn, 10. (tie) LSU over #40 Auburn
In sum, the Trojans' top wins are over much worse teams than the Sooners and Tigers have beaten, and the Trojans' loss is to a much worse team too: Oklahoma and LSU deserve to play in the Sugar Bowl

arent you supposed to be on your honeymoon or something?

Meni69 12-07-2003 07:42 PM

hey mr usc number 1 in both polls
oooh polls
quote my post
then dispute it
lets hear it
you guys played NO ONE this year
and lost to CAL

kocur26 12-07-2003 07:47 PM

USC is ranked #1 in both polls, AP & Coaches. To have them not playing in the Championship game is a joke. The BCS system was flawed from day one. IMHO, a playoff system is needed but it will probably never happen. :-(

As for what people will remember 10 years from now, assuming OU and USC both win their games then they will share the Championship. USC will be #1 AP (the poll that matters IMO) and OU will be #1 in the Coaches poll. Much like when Nebraska and Michigan split a few years ago.

Meni69 12-07-2003 09:21 PM

The polls favor, who loses FIRST
if ou lost game 1
then ran 12 wins a row
we'd be 1 no problem
honcho

paste AGAIN
i havn't heard one valid argument to this:

LSU fucking rules!

beergood 12-07-2003 11:05 PM

just to make sure I get it in every thread

FUCK THE PAC-10. they're a bunch of losers otherwise USC would be in the game. LOSERS. SEC is the mother fucking conference. We dominate and we're going to send OU back to the farm crying after a complete and total ass whipping come January. LSU all the way!!

VirtuMike 12-08-2003 05:27 AM

There is much debate about this. But the bottom line is:

FSU sucks.
