802.11 Rules

Really, I don't see how I ever lived without wireless. I am sitting on the shitter right now posting to GFY and adjusting some trades. Technology friggin' rules. :thumbsup

Gotta stop this before my legs fall asleep...

I have a problem with 802.11

but I'm still in the closet on it.

Rock on brotha. I like walking into my friend's houses and having instant internet access... i think that's pimp.

Amputate Your Head 12-06-2003 12:40 AM

fuck it.. I'm coming outta the damn closet.

when I'm hooked into 802.11.... I have 2 systems hardwired in and one wireless. Everything is groovy except... my main system when I upload, everything uploads just fine, but I don't get the return response from the server to end the session.... and it always ends in a fucking Taskman kill.

any thoughts on what the fuck setting I don't have right? Or is the router fucked?

When I get some more members, I want to get a 802.11 card for my PDA so I can roam around the house listening to MP3's and chatting. (And maybe a little pr0n)

I had that exact same problem and several other similar ones... always with datastream of some kind getting fucked up for no apparent reason.

I did 2 things that fixed it, and I don't know why exactly.
1)upgraded the firmware of the router (free from the linksys site)
2)went to broadbandreports.com and did their 'tweak' test and found several settings that were fucked up.

Haven't had a single problem since then.
And comcast just went to 3mbps!!!! WOOOOO hoozzzzzzzz

Mine was too... 'Factory settings' and all. But there was a firmware upgrade available and a couple settings were fucked up. Example: MTU (maximum transfer unit) setting was a big problem, mine was set to like 1490 instead of 1500 and for some reason that caused a huge bottleneck going through the router.

good luck!

i had endless problems with my router till i phoned the company - spent 2 hours on the phone with a tech, and he walked me through it all. now It's all great

definitely upgrade the firmware then, sometimes that will fix a lot in itself.

just be careful when you do it, and be sure and read the directions first. if you fuck up, your router will be worthless.

haha, yeah, wireless rocks! I am using it for over a year here and it is pretty convinient...
