Richard - Triplexcash 12-05-2003 09:23 AM

Do you mean on the server or pc? On the pc I use dreamweaver.

flashfreak 12-05-2003 10:46 AM

on PC : Homesite
on server: find . -type f | xargs perl -pi.bak -e 's/search_string/new_string/g' (searches recursively in dirs)

Ludedude 12-05-2003 10:49 AM

Look for a freeware program called "Max's HTML Beauty." It does what you need and then some and is trully free.

As already mentioned, the best software of this kind in all the world hands down is bk replacem. Like all powerful software, not easy to use until you learn it. But its the best of the best.

There are enough lazy webmasters, please don't turn more people on to shitweaver!

Search google for HCU95.. that's the best especially if replacing in over 100 files.

assneck 12-05-2003 12:00 PM

cute html works really well and it never expires.

Handy File Find and Replace (HFFR.exe)

Silver Age software

So far the best I've ever seen. Especially if you need to process hundreds of files at the same time. Quite simple but if you decide to use it make sure you know what you're doing - there's no 'undo' button :)

Nbritte 12-05-2003 03:31 PM

My favorite editor is ultra Edit you can search and replace in one file or many files at one time ,sort, remove duplicates. It highlights code for perl php html and others. It is about the best general purpose editor I have used
