I'm a New York kid who loves Philly pizza too. Yet ain't found anyplace who's pizza matches what's back on the east coast while out here in L.A.

I gotta admit, I miss great pizza. It' probably the ultimae stand alone dish.

You talking about Albanos Pizza? They are on Melrose, one block west of La Brea in Hollywood.

GREAT Pizza. Ordered a Sicilian today. Was amazing.

The only pizza place in LA that is open till 6am (yes, that late) and they also deliver that late is Domeono's Mr. Pizza on Fairfax between Beverly & Melrose.

Not bad good food by any means. Little too pricey.

It's all about the water. NE water makes great dough and sauce. There have been Pizzamakers who have actually shipped NorthEast water to locations in the south to make authentic NYC & Philly pizza, but it's always been too costly. And filtering and adding the minerals doesn't work.

Every pizza shop in NYC has their own great slice.

Rosario's for a great cheeze slice

Nino's for a great white pizza w/tomatoes

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

dude, if you live in LA there are two places you gotta try. for some good ass NY style pizza there is a place here in the valley called Joe Peeps. its on magnolia in Valley village. do a search and you will get the record. they will deliver anywhere.

also if you are looking for a more itallian style pizza, there is a place on sepulveda and ventura called Vito's of Scicely.
Vito makes the most AWSOME food and hes a really nice guy. its kind of intimidating to go in there cause there are no windows and its pretty closed but just go in and let vito yell at you to find a place to sit and you will be impressed.

Best pizza on the planet:

Lorenzo's on South Street, Philly.

i've had joe peeps and they are okay.. their crust is to dry for my tastes. will definitely have to try Vito's since it's right around the corner from my house.

if you like deep dish, have you tried Georgios down by Laurel & Ventura. It's in the same lot as Trader Joes. Their deep dish is one of the best around.

If I was stuck on an island and had ONE food to eat it would be pizza.

NEW YORK
#1. A little joint, Dom and Vinnies in Yonkers
#2. Rays #1 (corner of St Marks and 3rd NYC)
#3. Al's (Little Italy NYC) Can't get in unless you know someone.

...and it's true what somone said about the water, but why not ship NYC tap water to a place like Miami which must have the WORST fucking pizza in our states?

VirtuMike 12-05-2003 05:53 AM

I heard Payserve Maria's Curacao Flatiron Pizza is really good early in the morning.

Apparantly she cooked it with the hotel iron.

Matt, you are sooo right!!!

Water here in LA sucks. I don't drink it. Try not to get my food prepared with it either.

Ok,so ALL my family is from NYC so we know good pizza!

Go to Larchmont and there is place called Village Pizza. It was started in Brooklyn. It is hella CHEAP and tastes the best.you can get free complimentary crushed garlic,no charge! howver, the service is uber bad and you will not want to dine in cuz its so crowded with film peeps.

I also like Bueno Pizza on Sunset and Cheebos.

Sharky 12-05-2003 12:28 PM

Go to Mulberry Street Pizza on Ventura Blvd. I believe it's in Encino.

It's the closest to NYC pizza I tasted while living in Cali.

triumph 12-05-2003 12:30 PM

Gino's, but if I tell you everyone else would know and then everybody would be eating a Gino's Pizza.
