My Christmas House [pics]
The pics really suck because used a digital camera and it comes out all blurred and no details can be seen ....
But this is better than NO pic at all...the house was used to close a news broadcast on Fox..... Took us over 250 man hours to do this.... Anyone else go little decorating crazy? Its been cool watching the parade of cars go by and especially the joy on the kids face.... Don't ask about the electric bill, its rank...LOL. Nope, I did not lay out the power this year, had an engineer do it and WEE YaHOO, no blown breakers....how odd...we have 70,000 lites in estimate and no more amps or we would go alot bigger. I guess your not supposed to plug into whats conveniant, I guess there is some considerations after all.... *hee hee*. No snow in Florida so we have 2 bales of hay puffed into snow drifts covering driveway, so it look like at night. Built large arches over driveway with tinsel and lights to hide the PVC.... Anyhoo, its up and running..... We made the Parade of Homes this year [paid tour]. Sorry the pics suck so bad....what can I say. The structures and pieces are not visible....shame..... http://www.leenoga.com/pix/Cmas1.jpg http://www.leenoga.com/pix/cmas2.jpg http://www.leenoga.com/pix/cmas3.jpg |
cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesey!
:P |
Looks Good Lee!
I would do something like that if I could. I tried to hire someone to do it 2 years ago, however he told me I didn't give enough notice. They need 3+ months to plan for it he said. I gave him 45 days. lol |

Ok, let me re-phrase. I suck at using a digital camera. Who said I could not please a man. You satisfied now :-)))) |
Lee, that's AWESOME! I love Christmas lights. I always decorate the house even though the only people who see it are people I know. :)
And what are you talking about "man hours" - were any men involved? :winkwink: |
Nice Job !

wtf, that are really a shitload of lights! :glugglug
looks cool ;) .. you should buy a better cam :D
goddamn :1orglaugh :glugglug
Nice Lee. Some people round here decorate their houses like that. Everyone goes to see it. I'll get some pics of that and let ya see :)
Welp, just called a guy that can handle tough lighting situo's and he is gonna cam the house and I will upload some clips.
The problem with my crappy photography is the accent pieces are blurred and its not "clean" looking which it is in real life. Pics make it look junky and its not, nice clean lines, theme driven and loads of stuff besides strings of lights....lots of unique pieces not seen in the stores.....lots of them...... Anyone else doing their outside? We started doing this 3 years ago, my now ex's mother was in hospice at the house, and she had wish for me and that was to make her a wonderland outside....2001. FantasyMan made it possible for me to get it off the ground, and it went on from there..... We start the build late October and fire up at Thanksgiving. The kids make it worthwhile....and if they only knew what I did for a living :-)) I mean, are we not all kids? I'm owned. By. Santa. I. Believe. :-)) |
Buy a big piece of black cardboard, make a box camera - then take a better picture than that. Meanwhile... park your car accross the street from your house, put the digital camera on top of the car, don't move the car, hold down the camera tight on the car while you gently squeeze the shutter button. Then you could get creative by dividing the shutter speed by 4 and panning the camera during the last 1/4 of the exposure to make trails with the lights... Just my :2 cents:
I love it! :pimp
I had my Christmas decorations up for Thanksgiving. A lot of people made snide remarks about rushing the season. By a few days? Some idiots can't appreciate bright sparkly things. I feel sorry for them. I guess I love it because I grew up dirt poor and we barely had a cedar tree chopped from the side of the road somewhere with a string of lights on it. Good work. |
oh my - was it worth it?
looks good Lee

Very neat!
This actually looks like it was well thought out.
Most people who attempt this kind of stuff may end up with the brightest display on the block, but it's also the most retarded looking. |
My eyes My eyes! Wow that is so amazing you really are in the spirit to you. I bet Santa will be extra nice to you. Looks great.
wholly shit, that is alot of lights...glad you do not live nest door to me! lol

X-mas cheer!! They look fantastic.. thanks!!:thumbsup
looks great Lee! :thumbsup
how do you sleep with all those lights outside your windows?!
You should charge people for entrance
That is way cool. I love X-mas lights, they just seem to get you into the spirit.
I almost got into a fist fight with a particular someone yesterday that was helping me put up what was like a 12 foot light extension or something like that lol.... There would probably be a murder if I had them helping me do something like what you have going on. J/K :) Looks nice Lee! |
I'm planning on going ALL out next year. Music and everything. We'll see how much I can piss some neighbors off.
Looks Great, Lee...But where's the snow:helpme
Very Nice:thumbsup

We are pushing so many amps, the cords are a tad warm after the 4 hours, and MAN does it make my electric meter spin once we start to throw the breakers..... Actually, the neighbor next to me a young fellow [23], and does not decorating and the other side of me are Latino's and they love it...and they have a hard time getting their kids to sleep because they can peep out the window at the show. |

The neighbors will not be mad at you unless you create a traffic jam and folks turn around on their grass *hee hee*. Actually you will motivate others to do more decorating....watch and see! I am not off any main street, so they had to want to find me. I do have some signage up but the kids tend to steal it and now I have to go set the signs up and take them down every night. But I have not had any theft or vandalism yet. If you decide to do it next year, remind me next year and I will share with ya some things that you can construct out of PVC. The hardest thing for me to do is go out and mingle with the visitors, I would think I would make them uncomfortable, but Don who helped me thinks not....and he loves mingling.... What is your all's opinion? If ya saw the homeownere in driveway would you cut your visit short or welcome some convo? |
FUCK!! THATS IT!!!!!!
I AM GETTING MINE OUT!!!!! THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT CHALLENGE HAS BEEN MADE!!!! |
Hey cool pics, nice work on the house!:thumbsup
Lee, to take a better pic try a tripod, or the top of the car as someone has suggested. The reason the shots are blurry is because you moved. Also if you have a timer on the camera use that with no flash. you will be suprised how good it can turn out !:2 cents: Enjoy the show from what I can see it looks great :thumbsup
There's a house near me that does this every year, something like 500,000 lights or something, its good because there's a donation box, and all the donations goto the childrens hospital near us.
Good Job :thumbsup
wow.. I LOVE THE LIGHTS!!!! looks like a big gingerbread house! :) Im glad your in the spirits .. heheheh
Nice house, merry x-mas to you! :thumbsup
WOW, you're one hell of a Christmas decorator. There's one house in town that has a ton of decorations up every year that people flock to see and it's not even close to being as good as yours.
Great work !! |
That is so wonderful! My favorite thing about Christmas is fixing an air pot full of hot chocolate and driving around the county looking at lights. I've always wanted to own my own house so I could do that too.
This year I'm buying my first house. We close next week! (YAY!) But movers are hauling all our stuff over on the 19th so I'll barely have time to get a small tree. I'm a little sad about not being able to put up any lights, but we just won't have time. My fiance says he'll put up some icicle lights across the balcony on the front of the house and maybe over the garage if he has time. But next year... !!! :Graucho |
Nice House, two questions though
1) How the hell are you going to get all those lights off? (for those who put up christmas lights know how hard it could be to get them off) 2) Is Jacko hiding in there? :1orglaugh |
