Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Who here has it?
Who here thinks they're developing it?

BV 12-03-2003 10:57 PM

does it make your pinky finger numb all the time?

stocktrader23 12-03-2003 10:57 PM

I have Carpal Tunnel in my neck now. :1orglaugh

And yes my wrist is fucked up alot.

LadyMischief 12-03-2003 10:58 PM

Had it for 6 years now, I'm at the surgery stage but I'm putting it off until my kids are older. There is no way in hell I could get through 6 weeks of recovery with casts on my wrists if I can help it :)

You have symptoms? Or you been diagnosed?

psyko514 12-03-2003 11:04 PM

Wow... you're at the surgery stage? That's fucked up. I didn't know it was operable though. Is it covered by medicare? And who diagnoses it?

If pain in the wrist is a symptom, then I have symptoms. But the pain is rare... maybe once a month, and adjusting my armrest or mousepad usually helps.

I spend a minimum of 10-12 hours a day on the computer so I wouldn't be surprised if I have it.

what are the symptoms?

I can't swing a hammer or turn a screwdriver or even handle a pen for that matter for more than a few seconds without discomfort.

Put your hand in the microwave for at least 2 mins. This should help.

The tough part is figuring out how to only put your hand..

I think I'm developing it. My arms feel like they have no blood in them, and my wrists feel boneless whenever I use a laptop. Some say I'm a hypochodriac.

Generally it involves pain AND numbness. Earlier stages your fingertips can tingle and sometimes you can go numb. You don't always feel the pain right away sometimes it doesn't come until an hour or so after you're off the keyboard. For myself, I lose all nerves in my hand. I drop glasses etc because I can't feel how hard I'm holding them, I'll go numb to my elbows. It takes years to get to that stage though.

Here's some informative reading for you, but if you suspect it at all I'd suggest seeing your GP as soon as you can. Depending on the amount of stress it can deteriorate rapidly or slowly. The sooner the better. Surgery is the last resort.

Somewhat RUSTY steel as I understand it now... You should've opted in to stainless or titanium or upgraded before messing with Mother Nature! rotfl

I have carpal tunnel really bad. My hands and arms go numb at any given time... especially when I wake up. Hurts to even hold a pen or a spork :(

My understanding is that the pinky finger isn't really affected at all. It's on a different nerve set than the rest of your fingers. I don't know if that's true though; could've been hearsay.
