the silver gucci buckles, or just the bucckles, usualy have serial #'s on them as well and the counterfitters usualy don't take the time to imprint them into the silver :)

you can also usualy tell by the feel of the fabric of the purse, inside and out...if you don't know what real gucci fabric feels like, then don't buy one :)

On most of the fake Louis Vuitton bags you can tell they are fake by the cheap straps. The light colored leather straps aren't real, and never darken.

My wife has a real bag. Her cousin has the same one, but fake. Paid $380 for it (the real was $1000). The straps on my wifes have "worn in" some and are darker from the wear. The ones on her cousins bag look the same color as the day she bought it...

this is to someone who doesn't know as much or a first time buyer who wouldnt know.

Everybody's bought clothes before, so why not just decide if you find something worth the price or not based on previous experience?

Pardon? I don't see how that applies to the conversation... I enjoy prada, gucci etc... for the quality and craftsmanship put into it. They wear better.

I wear KENZO , Versace and Ferre only and all of thier products have a certificate so its easy to know I think.

The only thing i buy versace is shades... cause i like to loose them on the freeway

Well, everyone knows what wears good for them and if something is quality or not. So why care about the brand, whether real or fake?

You can tell the difference. Prada's tags are different on the outside - fake no tags on the inside nor do you get an authenticity card. Gucci has the numbers on the inside aswell and for the most part the logo inside the bag aswell instead of some cheap label. LV the material is different and just not the same (including #'s etc.,). Buy authentic, much better IMO.

IMO if you can't afford to keep $$ in the wallet or the purse at all times then u shouldn't carry one...meaning, if u paid $500 for the wallet then u'd better have $500....too many people live beyond their means these days...but if you're going to sport it it better be real!!!:2 cents:

compare the stitching with an authentic one. you will see the difference.

I wear $50 jeans and $40 button-downs. Spending that much money on clothes just seems ridiculous to me. If you're pulling big numbers, sure, why not. But a good chunk of the people who wear that crap are trying to sport an image.

Great bag, I want it. Where can you buy good fakes online? I've never shopped for them, though I'd like to. American women get sick of even the best of purses in a short while. Unlike Europeans who will invest in one great quality piece and carry it for years.

I just got back from a trip to New York.

If you want fake bags, go to Canal Street in Chinatown.

There are tons of stores there selling knock offs of every major designer you can think of. Typically, you pay $20 to $30 per bag.

My wife loves to buy the fakes becuase they look just like the real thing for a fraction of the cost. She likes to look stylish but think's it's stupid to pay $500 for a purse no matter how nice it is.

BTW, when we were there, the cops were busting some of the merchants selling the fake bags. It was hilarious watching all the merchants scrambling to close their stores and hide the bags when the cops came around. One store we went into actually had a secret room behind a wall in the back of the store where he kept all the "good stuff." No shit! It was like doing a drug deal.

In case you didn't know, it is ILLEGAL to sell knock offs of designer bags. That's why you have to be very careful when you buy on the Net. You can't expect to get your money back because you are already buying an illegal product.

Amen sista- well said. i have a a bunch of Prada purses, shoes, clothes and a wallet. i guess i could have hunted down some knockoffs- but i like the quality of the authentic stuff i have.
Gucci- i only have purses and shoes (no clothing) but still i find the style and quality to be what i want.
Now for LV- its simple the LV is never upside down and does not run into the seems. I have a 2 LV purses at home and believe that is the easiest way to determine if their real or fakies.

well the reason to buy the real thing is the quality of them. I got my first gucci bag when I was 12 or 13 and I carried the damn thing for nearly ten years. If you average out the cost of it I think it would have been about $30 per year for purse expense. A lot of women go through three or four cheaper bags a year at anywhere from $10 to $50 bucks a pop. Now, it's a lot more economical to actually buy the good stuff. Same thing with my Coach and Luis Vuitton bags, I carried both of them for several years each. Basically until I was tired of them. Now, I give my retired coach and gucci bags to my 11 year old and if she sees a new one that she wants I buy a knock off for her. She can have the real stuff when i'm convinced she can appreciate the value of it.

Or better yet, when she can buy it herself.:thumbsup
