No Vegas parties anymore?

CaroMark 12-03-2003 07:25 AM

:2 cents: Hmmm, perhaps there is some reason behind that :1orglaugh , anyway stop by our booth and I will at least buy you a beer:thumbsup

Dirty F 12-03-2003 07:29 AM

Battus, what is the best way to find an apartment in Amsterdam? Preferably a furnished one that already has a high-speed net connection.

Are there any good websites? Or are local newspapers the best way?

I could help you with that, its very easy...IF you pay enough.

You want to spend 500 a month...get in line, maybe you'll have something in 4 years.
If youre willing to spend a 1000+ you can have something tomorrow.

Right now im paying 1300 euros all in...
It took me 1 afternoon to find something nice...i had plenty of choice.

I'm willing to spend 1000+ euros a month. I definitely wouldn't want to wait 4 years.

So what is the best way to find an apartment in Amsterdam?

Dirty F 12-03-2003 07:40 AM

quwest.com/amsterdam.html

oei.nl/search.php?command=3

To get an idea.

Also keep in mind, you have to pay the companies who find something for you 1 month rent and the owner 2 months for escrow (correct word?)

So a 1300 euro appartment will cost you the first month:

1300 rent
1300 broker free
2 months escrow = 1600

Total $4200 euros = 5k us :)

Thanks for the info, those broker fees are really high, they better provide some damn good service for that price!

The only service they provide is finding you an appartment.

You can also try to find something on your own but you have to do that when youre here.
Ads in newspapers and shit.

CaroMark 12-03-2003 08:09 AM

:1orglaugh Dude if you are that much of party animal then the one beer should turn into more and let the party find us :thumbsup

Actually they are pretty normal when you use a broker over here. Like B. says you can also do it on your own ;)

I just don't like paying brokers. I've used them in the past and each time I ended up finding an apartment on my own before they found me one. :disgust

Yup, but were talking about Amsterdam.

Do it on your own and theres a good chance you'll get problems.

A good broker should help you when the owner tries to fuck you over. And this happens alot in Amsterdam.

Yeah, but I still don't like paying them. I think brokers are useless middle-men in the rental industry.

Aren't there any apartment rental websites in NL that landlords post available apartments on?

What's a typical thing an owner would do to fuck someone over?

Not giving back your escrow is a #1 problem.
If something in the house goes kaput and the owner needs to fix it and he wont.

Things like that.

Dirty F 12-03-2003 08:33 AM

Or after 3 months he sayd he will raise the rent with 200 bucks or you can leave.

Without a broker theres nothing you can do about shit like this.
And believe me, i speak from experience.

Amsterdam is the most fucked up city in Holland when it comes to rent and money and fucking people over.

Dirty F 12-03-2003 08:34 AM

Im sure i couldve found an appartment on my own but i chose not to do that because of the reasons above.

BRISK 12-03-2003 08:37 AM

That sucks :(

So are those two websites you posted the biggest and best brokers to work with? Do brokers only work with certain apartments? or will they find you anything that's out there?

Dirty F 12-03-2003 08:47 AM

directwonen.nl

The site is Dutch...but they are the biggest. You should visit their office.
