AMP Question

Friend of mines bday is coming up and he plays electric guitar, he mentioned he can use a new "Amp" to his GF. I dont want to ask him directly, anyone can tell me what to buy a real good one I remember there are a few guys here that play guitar.

I know nothing about this stuff.

How loud does he want it to be? ;) If you want to get a good one, look at Marshall or Crate amps. There are some other good brands, but those are the sure bets. You can't really go wrong with either of those.

My best sounding amp is a 1962 Dan Electro. All tube baby. I love the smoooooth sound.
