Sounds like some kind of short or something. How old is the motherboard? Sometimes they can crack in extemes of temperature or sometimes just over time.. Who knows.

Biostar 266 VIA chipset

7-8 months old?

I donno whats going on. I know I need this fixed asap. I am trying to work on my power point.. (due tomarrow) every 10-20 mins my computer will restart. No power loss or anything.. just restarts without asking so to speak.

Eve 12-02-2003 09:37 PM

probably your power supply. how much shit do you have hooked up to it?

Spunky 12-02-2003 09:39 PM

Yup sounds like a power supply problem

KMR Stitch 12-02-2003 09:44 PM

ATX 350 WATT
Biostar 266 VIA chipset
Athlon XP2100+ (non over clocked)
1024 MB's 2700DDR RAM
32x16x48x CD-RW
40x/16x DVD
123.5GB IBM 7200 RPM
Floppy
128DDR GEFORCE4 MX TORNADO
Thermaltake 7+ Volcano cooling fan
1 exuset fan
1side/case cover fan
1 neon light.

How could this be a power problem? All my Voltages are set. .5+/-
ect ect... I have run 350 watts with this setup for 8 months now..never a problem in the past.

give this a try:

Control Panel->System->Advanced->Startup and Recovery

uncheck the "Automatically Restart"

if you've got a software or even a driver problem causing a failure, it'll cause you to reboot even on stupid conflicts sometimes.

who knows maybe it'll work

Edit: ahh I see you said sometimes in Bios mode...
well then forget all I just said

did you try a different kind or even different brand of Ram?

I also repatched my box.

I am fucking going nuts every 10 mins your pc restarts...GRR!

Gruntled 12-02-2003 11:15 PM

Like I said in your first thread, if it's not the RAM or data cables, your motherboard is shorting against your case. pull the fucker out and run it on a cradboard box until your get your shit done if you don't have another computer around.

Blue screen of death yet it was....Windows caught a physical error and tried to dump physical memory before restart?

Could it be that when you flashed your bios it didn't like what was under the raincoat (running away very very fast).
