This is SOOO fucked up!
We live right on a highway.. trucks go through here day and night. Well not long ago, jact got some new speakers for his computer. One day, we're doing our thing working away and all of a sudden we hear voices from the speakers.. even though nothing was going on on the computer. It happened again and again.. Guess what. The speakers are picking up the CB frequency from the truckers!! And MAN do they have POTTYMOUTHS! My kids will be watching tv and all of a sudden all you can hear is some asshole trucker "That fucking cocksucker" or whatever, and we can't control it. Anyone have any ideas?
This is FUUUUCKED. |
turn the power off?
|
buy some ear plugs for your kids
|
Damn....
Maybe try buying some other speakers? |
Try hitting the Mute button.

lot lizard fetish site?
|
i got the same problem
my speakers are picking up the radio frequency |
Make a real big sign, and put it out on the highway that says "Trucks: Please keep CB chatter to a minimum, kids are trying to sleep"

lol thats great. so how is your radio picking up the frequency? when you have the tv on?? or just the FM/AM radio?
|
It's likely that your speaker wires are acting as an antennea. Try getting some good shielded wire instead of using the cheap wire that comes with the speakers. If you have the same problems with your phones you can actually buy filters to put on the line to fix it.
|
That sucks
|
What kind of speakers? I've had that problem with baby monitors, but never speakers. Are they cheap?

you need a faraday cage.
a faraday cage is , in laymans terms, a wire mesh cage from which signals will not enter or escape. the most likely explanation for the problem with the speakers is that the cables on them are not well shielded. |
I would recommend getting some magnetically shielded speakers for your computer... Suck as: Polk audio or Boston Acoustics
|
Mine do the same thing except they will pick up radio station cause my stereo is next to my computer. It doesn't come in clear but sometimes if you listen closely you can make a word or two. Get some stuff from these guys....I wear the stuff all the time. Maybe they have a throw blanket you can wrap your PC in.

Teach your kids about what the words are, when and when not to say them and hire them out to those comedy shows that need kids to swear for "shock value"

That reminds me of a while back when I had a jam band together and the guitarists amp would pick up the AM sports radio station. It freaked us out at first, but we rolled with it. :1orglaugh

haha we got some 12" speaker cabniets on the floor in the living room they always pick up CB frequencies. We bought a bigger guage wire with more sheilding and that solved the problem.

Sometimes a search on the internet can help you out. The internet can be pretty useful because you are not alone anymore. Others can experience the same problems. Welcome to the internet.
