Something weird is going on with my ad campaign - Please help :S
 

I've bought advertising on the Smutserver network today. Supposedly I'd be getting 20 million banner impressions.

This is a random site hosted at Smutserver. There are more but as far as I've checked they all show my ad. Mine is the one at the top for penis pills.

A few hours ago I mailed Smutserver asking to change the link, so that instead of sending people to the MAIN page, it would link to a Product page, being this one:

In a few minutes I get a reply saying it's been changed, and traffic pours in to the product page, like previously it was hitting the mainpage. Now the reason I changed it is because I was hardly getting any productivity. I'm talking 120.000 raws to my mainpage and only 43 (!!) sponsor clickthroughs

So now, the banner still links to my mainpage, but my mainpage is hardly getting traffic. Instead, the *product page*, which is NOT linked to directly on the ad, is being hit HARD with traffic, while the mainpage is getting nothing (Even though that page is linked to!). Either way, there's no productivity again. After about 25.000 raws I've seen about 10-15 clickthroughs.

Something is definitely fishy. Where is the traffic coming from, if it's not linked to on the ad? Why does the ad still link to my mainpage but my mainpage isnt seeing the traffic? And what's with this productivity problem?

If anyone has any thoughts, they're more than welcome. I'm LOST!

The traffic is supposed to be clicked & targetted.. No way that a total of 150.000 raws (so far) result in about 50 sponsor clickthroughs.. But what Im really worried about is why the ad links to my main page, but that isnt seeing any traffic.. My product page has it pouring in, but it isn't linked to

I was just kidding. It definitely sounds totally fucked up, I would stop the traffic if I were you and try and figure out what's up.

There was a guy named James who was calling people and talking the talk, getting prepays and then never delivering the traffic....

They had some Webmaster Resource site too.... Cant remember what it was called.

But it if WAS them, then I wouldnt be at all surprised to see them scamming you on a buy.

can you see the referrer in your logs? find out where it's coming from.

We are supplementing your traffic with some extra 404 traffic being sent directly to your product page. Hope this generates some sales for you.

You are sooooooooo far off the mark it's not even funny. Smutserver is ran by some of the best people on the net. They have an impeccable reputation, and have been around for many many years and have brokered more traffic then most anyone on the net. Your post is way out of line.

A clicked banner is worth more then 404. I would think.

I dont believe the Smutserver guys would fuck over anybody on purpose.

The promised banner impressions were 20 million. Based on my calculations of the traffic sent to my main page in the last few hours, I receive about 500 raws per hour of actual clicked traffic. That's roughly 12.000 raws, from 20 million impressions..

In comparison, that would be the same as having 20.000 banner impressions and seeing 12 clicks.. I'm having a really hard time figuring it out

How much do they charge for 20 million banner impressions?

Me neither, but I'd really like to understand this.. If I can make this traffic work I would invest in it over and over again but this is just beyond my worst expectations..

Maybe it's my bad somewhere, either way I like to see this sorted out

Well traffic was stopped, it just didn't work out for me.. Not sure what it was but the guys at Smutserver were very professional about it and compensated me.

Deals can turn out bad but they handled it the right way. Thumbs up guys :)

GFP - You are 100% right.

I was thinking about another company with a similar name.
I asked some of the guys they ripped off and they confirmed my mistake and even said good things about Smutserver.

Smutserver - Sorry about that, my apologies.

I bought quite some freehost traffic as well a few months back.
It's cheap but it also sucked pretty bad.

Overall TGP traffic isn't great but this was complete shit.
