Cat door

My cat just doesn't understand it. He kind of tries to pull the door towards him instead of pushing it open with his head. I tried to push him through but he didn't like that :(

Any suggestions?

It took me 2 days to install that simple one. I wouldn't touch one of those fancy electronic doors...I'm really bad at this :(

chowda 12-02-2003 09:08 AM

hmmm... besides teaching ur cat the proper way my only other suggestion is to make the door harder to pull.. but that seems wrong for some reason..lol.

fuck off! who gives a fuck about your stupid cat and its stupid door:321GFY

My cat did the same thing at my old place. I propped the door open and let her watch me set treats on the other side and tied some toys to a fishing wire a few times and she was fine with it after a couple days.

That pic of your cat is killing me. :1orglaugh Looks like she's on deathrow.

haha that's awesome! My cat did the same thing. What I ended up doing was pushing him through the door then have a small plate of a spoon of tuna on the other side. He went nuts and went through. I then put it on the other side of the door later. After 3 times total he figured it out. The cats are dumb, just lazy.

We had to take the door part out. We had one for their food and we put the cat door on an interior closet so we didnt really need the plastic piece in the middle. Its funny because their food was on the other side and they still wouldnt go through it!

Hehe yeah he looks cute in that pic.

Ok, I'm going to try the treat thing...maybe he just needs some motivation :) He just ate though, so I need to wait a little.

Sarah_Jayne 12-02-2003 09:22 AM

it looks like the cat is bricked into the wall

SleazeQueen 12-02-2003 09:23 AM

What we did was tape the door open with a long piece of tape from the top. Then I sat inside the door and my boyfriend sat outside. We called the can inside and outside with treats and toys. A few times in and out and he was hopping through. Then we closed the door and did it again, pushing the door a few times as an example.

The first couple of days he was a little unsure, but then got used to it.

Good luck!

I'll have to do that as a last resort. He does go through when I hold the door open for him so that will work for sure.

Hey it's Space Cat in the http://www.staywell.com shuttle on his maiden voyage! :1orglaugh

I had one of those about 20 yrs ago, then one night a possum found it, and the neighbors cats, a stray dog... I boarded it over after a few weeks. :BangBang:

Ron2k1 12-02-2003 11:24 AM

:1orglaugh Beware of the space cat!

I guess this model is not so good for a door leading outdoors. You should get one of those: http://www.catflaps.com/en-gb/dept_4.html
