Is Vancouver Safe Anymore???
I got home from England yesterday afternoon and called my buddy that had my house key to feed my fish. His Girlfriend answered and said he was in the hospital.
A few hours earlier he was changing his flat tire just off of Kingsway and Fraser...then BAMMM!!!! 4 Vietnamese dudes start to kick the Sh!t out of him...he didn't have a chance...Left him with bad neck problems...I went to see him today and he can hardly talk. Wierd thing is, they didn't take anything from him except for 60 bucks....does someone deserve a sh!t kicking for 60 bucks. I thought random "jumping" was just a faze in the early 90's. :BangBang: |
|
the vietnamese are the least of our problems .. we need to put a big fat fence around quebec
|
Looks like Shemp has a new secret identity! Don't forget Mickey! :)
Sorry your buddy got jumped Pink. It happens here so much, we don't even pay much attention when we hear about it. |
Its happened to me....down by Commercial drive.
I was on my way home from work one day and was violently attacked by a 6 foot goon while his 3 friends waited in the car.. He tried to pull a grab and run with my purse and failed... When he realized i still had my purse in my hand, he turned around, came back and beat the crap out of me. He never even ended up taking my bag!! I had cauliflower ear for a few weeks and my legs didnt heal for almost 2 months. He was kicking me after i fell on the ground. Vancouver is still home for me either way. I guess it could hapen anywhere..Im not sure if its the cities we live in or the people we share them with...... |
I got held up at knife point at Lougheed Mall ...
they stripped my friend down to his tshirt and boxers while the other guy held me with a knife on my neck and then the guy went to grab my stuff and the other gang member punched him in the face and said "you never touch a lady" Im thinking gang initiation? so lucky for me they discriminate! :BangBang: |
it's a damm shame you guys don't have 2nd Amendment rights like we do...
but seriously, sorry to hear bout your buddy, that's fucked... |
katt and jen i will protect u guys if ur with me your safe those azn guys luv me off hehehe :Graucho

I was robbed at gun point in the Kerrisdale McDonalds about
10 years ago by some gang members. They took one dollar from me as this was all i had at the time. In 1987 when I was 16, i lost my two front teeth when some gang members jumped me and my friends on Robson St. I had just gotten my braces removed so my teeth came out very easily when one of them smashed my face in. I was pretty angry about it for a few years, but I think I used the anger in a constructive fashion so at least something positive came out of it. Its too bad about all this violence. People should copulate more instead - its so much more fun. I think it was Fred Lane the 3rd who said something to this effect at Internext a couple of years ago: "Pornographers help rid the world of violence. A man is least likely to be agressive and violent after he has just had an orgasm". - jpoker |
That is fucked up.
Only problem I ever had was some fucker in surrey grabbed my discman 5 years ago... I chased him down and grabbed it back, and he ran away. For the most part though, the Vancouver area is pretty safe. You'll want to stay away from areas with more gang/drug problems like parts of Surrey, New West, and South Burnaby. |

But Michael Moore says this stuff doesn't happen in Canada!
For fucks sake, if we had CCW I'd be armed to the teeth. |
I grew up in east van and still live here. I have been all around the world and still think Van is the best and safest place to live. You can walk down any ally at 4am at not be bothered.
|
w0rd. I live in east van and wouldnt want to live anywhere else. I ve never had any problems like the ones described in this thread.
but feel sorry for the ones that did. Ive been to about 26 of the 50 states and believe me, its far safer here. |

Thats where it happened...in a back alley just of of Kingsway but in broad daylight....I also feel safe living in Vancouver compared to other places in the world but it's just sad hearing and seeing this shit happening to your firends. |

It's not the Canadians, it's the immigrants the government has allowed in to fluff up the tax revenues. |
Living in Vancouver is great, because the crime you hear about on the news that involves murders and assaults are the only real serious crimes that occur, and for the most part, our crime rates are low.
The problem is that there are quite a few gangs, every nationality has a gang it seems. The notoriously violent gangs are the east indians and the asian gangs though, which is funny, because if you meet an east indian or an asian that isnt in a gang, they're generally more polite then us cracka's, but get them in a gang and they're as ruthless as they come. |
DAMN! I've been to most of these places in Vancity, Coquitlam, New West, and never saw a problem. We had offices right in New West on Columbia St.
I'm really sorry to hear that happening. |

I am from Quebec, I live in Vancouver ... come and fence me mofo... |

but as a born and raised vancouverite 98% of the people i've met from quebec are at least two of the following three. 1) a drug addict (on welfare) 2) homeless (and begging for change) 3) with a dog (they can't properly care for) i'm sick of hearing meth addicts screaming at people and harassing me for change every time i got to get a fucking coffee. in my perfect world canada would geographically stay as it is now. but i'd rather dig quebec free from north american myself than listen to another bout of seperatism |
welcome to compton 1986

LMAO... Oh Vancouver is so hard !!!.. I live @ Gore and Alexander..2 blocks from Main and Hastings.. you have a bigger chance of shit happeneing in the burbs by wig punk asses than the walking Zombies in my area.
LOL :1orglaugh |

the problem with the zombies is that it's lose lose. if one does decide to flip on you and you have to take them out you'll end up with blood on you and aids |

recently spent about 7 weeks in vancouver.. lived on burrard st downtown... was a bit of a shock coming from australia and being hassled by bumms and drug dealers whenever i walked down the street... but never really had any trouble, except for my mates getting screwed over by dodgy dealers.
Used to be out just about everynight around granville, gastown, commercial drive, sure there would lots suspect people around, but luckily for us we just minded our own business. canada is a great, hopefully get back there soon. Matt |

i lived in east van for 3 years and never heard of anybody having any sort of violent crime experience.
the way i felt about vancouver is you can walk down the street with a million dollars in your pocket and you'll be safe, but any property you want to keep you need to chain it up and bolt it down. |

uhhh oooo, do I hear another one that lives by the 14 words? :Graucho |
I lived in Vancouver, Burnaby and New West throughout the 6 years I stayed out there.
I also ran one of the worst bars in Surrey and never had any problems. I think the only time I got hassled was by some drunk ass at about 9am in the morning on my way to work, but it turned out fine. The government needs to be aware that opening the liquor stores and beer and wine stores at 9am is definitely not necessary.:2 cents: |
I was gang raped at Brandies.. but I never complained
|
LOL

I have lived in 4 Provinces and 1 Territory.. in 4 of the largest cities in Canada.. Vancouver is very safe..it has a large social problem indeed..but in every major center across Canada I see the homeless, drug dealers and drunken crackies. Vancouver itself is a very small city and it gets more attention than the rest of Canada for it's junkies and famous corner. More sad than unsafe IMO. |
