Sweet Jesus this industry is a rollercoaster

Despite a great professional life (day job), family life, and good times in general, my mood is sooooo strongly linked to recent events in my porn promotions... I feel like a schizoid or a manic depressive or something.

Shit starts cranking checks start pouring in, I am high as a kite.
Something bad happens, or I get lazy, or my stats slump, or whatever, I am soooo fucking bitter and depressed.

Of course severe sleep deprivation doesn't help this condition any.

ANYONE else go through this? Or are you all just making millions with 20 minutes of work a day and no worries. :(

gornyhuy 12-01-2003 07:38 AM

by the way, I say this because I am high as a kite right now, but yesterday I was in the shitter.

You betcha. That's why you can't just stick to one market :(

KingK7 12-01-2003 07:40 AM

Hehe yeah sounds familiar

gornyhuy 12-01-2003 08:19 AM

I know there are plenty of people on this board that have gotten past the roller coaster point into stable high recurring revenue...

You bastards. :winkwink:

So, when did you know you had hit that point of stability?

Furious_Male 12-01-2003 09:13 AM

I think the key is banking the money when times are good. There will always be daily ups and downs that will drive you crazy but if you have money flipped into good investments (whether it is mutual funds or realestate etc.) those bad days don't seem so bad.

I don't think anyone is 100% secure. Even the big dogs still have to play there cards right. They can be 1 law suite or industry breaking change away from losing it all.

gornyhuy 12-01-2003 09:23 AM

Yeah, I'm definitely planning to flip porn profits into a real estate/stock mix once I get a decent nest-egg built up and have reinvested enough to continue growth.

theharvman 12-01-2003 09:28 AM

I have felt that way in the past. You have to treat this like the stock market there will be ups and downs in the market. So you have to be prepared to ride this out. Bank enough so you do not feel the hit on the bad days and your mood will follow suit!

Poo-Chee 12-01-2003 09:30 AM

i can find myself in that

hehehe, I've taken you on a journey of self discovery.
Okay, so who wants to tell me where to put my porn profit?

Rental property? I've been looking at both ocean-front and ski-resort condos as a potential real estate investment... cash flow positive (only barely) and therefore your renters pay your mortgages off.... ?????

Partly agree, however, don't forget to invest (part of) your cash flow. If you don't invest today you might have nothing to earn cash with in 18 months :2 cents:

This is the reason I hardly ever check stats unless I'm testing something new. Works great. If the first half of the month is bad I never notice because the second will usually balance it out. Just keep working, keep building, and send me traffic... :winkwink:

Have you thought about investing in office buildings? It is easier to deal with businesses than tenants.

radical 12-01-2003 12:31 PM

I have thought and read about this, but my complete lack of experience in the commercial side of real estate makes me nervous about getting started. Maybe I should find a REIT or a co-op of real estate investors and pool money and experience to get started?

Have you done this?
