hmmm, not much chance of one of my ex-in laws leaving me anything, that is for sure

theking 11-29-2003 04:59 PM

I received a phone call from an Attorney

...this morning. A total shocker. One of my ex mother-in-laws is in intensive care...in a coma...and she has a no resucitation order...thus she will not be given water or feeding...so unless she comes out of the coma...she will pass in a matter of days.

What is even more of a shocker is...she has a will leaving her estate to me...which according to the Attorney is somewhere around a quarter million. I have not seen her in years...but we have stayed in touch. I have always liked her and hope she pulls through this.

baddog 11-29-2003 04:59 PM

you have a problem with your sig dude

theharvman 11-29-2003 05:02 PM

Why are you getting everything? What about her flesh and blood?

When her time does come.. you can forget about getting anything for quite some time while her kids fight over the will and you being sole beneficiary..

Honeyslut 11-29-2003 05:15 PM

what kind of relationship DID she have with your ex ?

She was an only child (my mother-in-law) and her husband died some years ago. Her only child was my ex wife...and she became a druggy sometime after I divorced her. She disappeared about 10 or more years ago...and her mother has not had any contact with her during that period of time...so I assume that is why I am in the will.

Well...when she became strung out on drugs...big time...she didn't have a relationship.

How is hubby? Have the addition finished? BTW :drinkup

theking 11-29-2003 11:09 PM

I just received a call from the hospital...she passed away. I have called a nurse in to take care of my mother...and I am leaving now to go out of state...I do not know when I will be back.

Krome 11-29-2003 11:11 PM

did you get much when your dad died (path finder - just incase you forgot your first user name) or was it pretty handy that no will had to be written as you are one and the same?

BTW are you also your ex mother-in-law?

I thought DNR orders were for "heroic measures," not food and water! That's not a good way to go. I hope she pulls through for you.

What Do Bungee Jumping And Sex With A Prostitute Have In Common? They Both Cost About $100, Last About 30 Seconds, And If The Rubber Breaks, You're A Dead Man.

The thing is theidiot thinks we are going to believe him.

About as believable as a son posting a message on GFY because this was the board his Dad was surfing when he passed away.

But if it is true, maybe he can buy somewhere decent to live and get out of that shack he posted here. :1orglaugh

You can specify what measures you want provided and not provided in a DNR. Usually you just leave it up to a trusted relative, but if you have time (say you know you're going to die of stomach cancer) you can formally or informally specify things like this. If she was at a stage where she couldn't take in food or water normally, there would no doubt be other health complications - probably either unconscious, or serious respiratory or digestive problems.

General suggestion to people: discuss some scenarios with your loved ones about when you'd want "the plug pulled" (figuratively), and if you haven't assigned medical power of attorney to someone, you should do so, even if it's a cheap form from a home software kit...you don't want to have a court-appointed stranger overruling the wishes you've discussed with your family.

I am back. I have control of my ex mother-in-law's estate. She made it easy. She had me down as the benificiary on her bank account...investment accounts...except for one...and her home was not put in my name...so the latter two have to go through probate...but other than the time involved it will not be a problem. The accounts that I was down as benificiary was simply a matter of filling out some forms and mailing them along with a death certificate...and the accounts will be changed into my name.

I am currently living in the home...and I am going to make it permanent. My mother likes the new nurse and has agreed to allow her to live with her. I have already been back to California and moved some of my belongings. I have made arrangements to sell the remainder of my properties to a single buyer...so all of my investments will be in mutual funds...thus I will be hassle free.

I am in Oregon...I like the area and I am just a few miles from the ocean. It rains alot in this area but I don't get out much anyhow...so that will not be a problem.

I just got back online today.

Honeyslut 12-10-2003 05:05 PM

myjah 12-10-2003 05:25 PM

sorry for your loss. you rarely know how much you touch a person in life. seems like you had a big impact on her - best of luck in your new home.

People can survive for quite some time without food or water, especially if they are on a ringers drip. DNR is do not resuscitate, meaning that if their heart or respiration stops they will not attempt emergency measures.

This sounds more like some kind of living will than a DNR.

I doubt you even had $20k in your life and if you owned the shack 10 years in LA then you would make that kind of money. Problem is when you have to buy another one, you find all the shacks around you are the same price as the one you just sold. Unless you move to the wilds.

So where is you profit? I know this by living in a house in London Gants Hill for 20 years. Bought it for $18,000 sold it for $500,000 3 years ago. If I had wanted to buy another like it I would have spent all the money I had. Moved to Czech where it's a bit cheaper.

You give yourself away so easily. You are one of life's dreamers.

Clueless people are always in doubt. I paid $261,000 for the "shack" and sold it 11 years later for $456,000...which in round numbers is 200 grand more than I paid for the house...and I call it profit. You feel free to call it whatever clueless ones like you choose to call it. FYI the house was paid for...and I did not buy another house like it...the $456,000 went into mutual funds...which is where all of my money will be when I complete the sale on the remainder of my properties. Dividends are pretty much hassle free...though I don't choose to collect them. My VA check and Social Security check more than meet my monthly needs.

If you thought that house was a "shack" then I do not know what your clueless mind would choose to call my current abode...nor do I care. It is about a 1200 sq foot modular...and the market value is probably around $40-50 grand...and is 17 years old but I find it to be cute...cozy...nicely located and being single it is all that I need. BTW :321GFY or the content that you call wife.

ooh did i strike a nerve PF? does it bother you that the Marines and the Army do the same job, except that Marines are trained harder, with less, and are the most feared fighting force in the world (maybe with the exception of the French Forgein Legion) ? Does that make you feel like a pussy ?

Go for it, theking = the GFY village idiot.

As I said any shack in LA over 10 years should appreciate that much.

You are a fool who entertains us, youdon't even have a site or business on the net, just some lonely clown trying to make himself look big. In his own eyes.

FYI...I have trained with Marines...I have attended Marine schools...and have instructed Marines at an Army school...thus I am very familiar with Marine training...and over all have probably spent more time with Marines than you. The only unit that the Marines have that is comparable to Army Special Operation Forces is Force Recon.
