Where to find a laptop under 1k..
 

Where could I find a laptop under 1k.. Its not for me, its for a family member so it doesn't have to be anything special. The only thing they do want is 256mb of ram, and a CD-RW burner.

Try Dell. Of course, you'd have to reinstall the OS. Afterwards, I don't see you having any problems.

BestBuy had some sale on Toshibas for $499.00 probally a celeron..

BestBuy was advertising several 2.4 ghz with 256mb ram for under $500

Can't find that, but im still searching.. And about ebay, I heard buying a comptuer off ebay was not that smart of an idea.

dell has their 1100 for like 7bills.

I know a couple of people who bought Dells on ebay and got good deals. Search for Dell laptop. There are also several ebay stores that have virtually brand new ones that they've tested and certified as being a-ok and they're still under warranty from Dell. As long as you go with a reliable seller, I think you'd be fine.

Until the iBook got bumped to a G4 processor recently, list price was $999. I bet you can find some great deals on new and refubished G3 iBooks these days.

I just got one from Gateway for right at 1k, and it had a ton of options on it. They had a couple of model that were cheaper. I got 3 times the warranty that Dell was going to give me, and the Dell was going to cost me 400 bucks more for the same thing.
