What is the chance of this happening

My server host had to change the IP on a server for some reason. The new IP they set me up with has been blacklisted from several sites. I am guessing a cheater use to use this IP.

First I would like to know what is the chance of this happening. Second what is the best way to correct this problem? If I tell them that this IP has to go what is the chance that the next IP will have similar problems?

But seriously, I doubt this could happen again. Ask for another IP, this should solve your problems.
