was just sitting on irc.. and some one pasted a url and i clicked it.. and it has 27,000 valid credit cards on it.. all pulled out of some one's database i guess.. if epoch or ccbill or anyone wants this list i will give you it so you can block them all.. i hope they don't swarm adult sites with these :(

Spunky 11-27-2003 08:18 PM

Thats not good...could be a friend of yours or relative that gets ripped off..highly unlikely but still I hate fucking scamming thieves..Visa should be notified.

psyko514 11-27-2003 08:20 PM

Kick Ass Chat 11-27-2003 08:27 PM

Just because some Idiot posted them on irc does not mean they are real, and/or working numbers. :2 cents: :2 cents: Also why would you post in public that you have in your possesion "27,000 valid credit cards" ???? I would imagine you just put yourself on the top of the list to be investigated for their fraud usage:1orglaugh

That's it... you notified a CC processor and let the chain of command take over from there. Mark will go up to Visa, if it checks out as being fraudulent, they'll be denied...

It's not that simple. Best case scenario, they'll be temporarily blocked and cardholders will be giving the option of cancelling or not.

More likely, a simple letter will go out to the customers whose accounts were compromised, giving them the option to cancel.

Idea being that the processors / visa now know... that's about as much that can be done from our side of things.

Sad thing is, a lot of the fraud is being committed by wannabe hacker/spammer 14-15 year olds. They always talk about carding and shit on IRC and speak of it, like it's perfectly normal. I'm like WTF... I feel REALLY bad for people that have their info exploited like that. It's just wrong. No wonder people are reluctant to buy things online... look at what happens.

I hope Visa/MC/Discover/AMEX all come up with better security features. Like a card swipe machine on the side of your monitor :1orglaugh

We're not that far off. Some credit cards already come with chips and card readers to hook up to your PC.

I believe it. I had something charged against the visa to my checking account last month from a billing company that I do not use. The address on my statement was russia.

if the fraudulent charges were over $25,000.00 US you can bet your ass they went after them. if they bought a cheap car, then the bank probably doesnt have the time/money/man power to look into it any more then a police report.

It's not just about the money, it can also be identity theft. With a credit card and other stolen documents, you can morph into that person, fuck up their credit and ruin their life. It's really hard to prove it wasn't you, when it's stolen.
