I live with my mom. I'm an only child. My dad died when I was 12... I support my mom financially 100%. She has arthritis in her spine and I love being able to do good things for her.

i DONT have to:

- pay mortgage
- cook (and when i eat at home the food is GREAT)
- clean
- worry about tv bill
- nor do i have to buy furniture

Why would move out? I only use this place to sleep and work :) , its like a free hotel :)

This also although not intended as a smart thread but it could be because it says something more about the different societies of the world. Here in the US more than other cultures people run away from their families as fast as they can. Whereas in other cultures it's not so uncommon to have a large household of extended family members for quite a long time. So with the decay and collapse of the family structure created by the attitude here in the US it's no surprise to me that so many think it's wrong to live with your family.

Afterall you get out so you can what, get high, drink and have sex? Well there you go all the greedy things that cause the problems of society, I'm not saying it's wrong to get away from your family and get a place of your own, what I'm saying is it's not so bad to keep a close family for longer than is standardly accepted in this country.

Sorry for the intelligent interlude you may now return to bullshit.

Right on :thumbsup

I'll probably always live with my mom or on the same property. Wherever I go, she goes. So I hope to build 2 houses on the same property one day. She does a lot for me... cooking, cleaning... I'm quite spoiled :1orglaugh But other than that, like Digipimp said above, it's not uncommon to have extended family or be close to your family in other cultures. I'm not close with the rest of my family, because they are selfish and total idiots... but anyway, my mom is my biggest champion.

Martin 11-27-2003 09:06 PM

I'm back at home due to my Dad's heart problems. Seems like I can't get away. I don't really give of fuck what anybody thinks. I'd do anything for my family.

Yeah hehe I feel the same about the rest of my family. But I'll always help my mom all I can, I like being able to support her financially, like she worked for me her whole life... :)

angeleyes 11-27-2003 09:09 PM

NO!!! I moved out the summer before I started college and although I could have saved a lot of money by staying there-I chose to suck it up and make it on my own.

Side Note: If I had a sick parent, that would be a different story.

Mr Pheer 11-27-2003 09:18 PM

I can only think of 3 acceptable scenarios for living with your parents.

1. You are too young to leave yet, meaning not finished highschool.

2. You hit one of those bumps in life and had to have a TEMPORARY place to stay while getting back on your feet.

3. You move in because they are in poor health and need your assitance, which is pretty noble if you do this because I'm sure the personal sacrifice is large on your part.

The rest of you leaches living at home.... If you are man enough to be in this business, you need to get out of mommy's home and live on your own. Pop mommy's titty out of your mouth and be a man, support yourself. Your family will respect you more, and you will gain some respect for yourself.

I couldnt fucking stand myself if I had to tell a date, uh i live with my mommy... lets go to your place instead.

Sly_RJ 11-27-2003 09:21 PM

I could never live with my parents again. No way.

Jer 11-28-2003 04:49 AM

Interesting stats. Almost 50/50

I think we need a new poll.

O  I live at home because I am underage.
O  I live at home because I am still in school.
O  I live at home because I don't have any money.
O  Other reason.

feN 11-28-2003 06:40 AM
