How do you keep from chain smoking while working?

Before I started doing this full time I would only smoke a half a pack a day because I could not smoke while working in the offices. Now that I work at home full time (16+ hours a day) I smoke like a fucking coal fired lovomotive!!

Come on smokers, what's your trick to not smoke so damn much?

Amputate Your Head 11-27-2003 01:15 AM

I refuse to smoke in my home or my vehicle. That helps, because if I wanna smoke, I gotta get up, go up stairs and outside to the deck.

smoking inside is nasty.

Oh man, I got nothing against smokers. It does not smell to plesant though and makes the clothes smell bad too. Hm, also bad for my health, second hand smoke that is.

Ah well. Just quit smoking :)

Rorschach 11-27-2003 01:17 AM

Try smoking methamphetamine instead.

I wish I never started smoking inside. My curtains have a nasty odour, my clothes smell of smoke, my monitor is yellow now. My keyboard has ashes galore in it and the air is sooooo dry cause of smoke. Maybe I'll start smoking outdoors. Easier said than done though.

clean it all up.... scrub and paint the walls, get new curtains, wash the clothes and stuff real good, sterilize your work environment, and eliminate it from the inside and start fresh. The longer you smoke in there the worse it gets. That shit turns your walls yellow.... I still burn just under a pack a day, but it's all done 100% outside or not at all. Just gotta force yourself for a while... pretty soon it's automatic. Leave the ashtrays outside and the smokes and lighters next to the door.

Amputate Your Head 11-27-2003 01:31 AM

also I tend to eat alot of beef jerky to keep my mind off smoking.

Pornwolf 11-27-2003 01:32 AM

Cold turkey. FInd a Krispy Kreme and substitute vices.

Under a pack a day? How large are your packs down there? 20's or 25's? I'm going 25 cigs a day easy here now :/ If I could train myself to smoke outdoors I would be down to an easy 10 cigs a day.

The walls will just be repainted, no use cleaning flat latex, it washes off and bleeds 50 year old paint underneath that's fucking lime green. What's worse is what the smoke does to electronics. Man. My first computer was bought by a guy who smoked near it for 3 years. The motherbaord was caked in orange gunk. Sickening. Even my brand spanking new motherboard of 5 months old has a film around the rear jacks and ports. I think I am going to take your advice. it feels liek I am smoking my fuckign life away and the quality of air in here is HORRIBLE. I feel sorry for my cats having to live in this haze.

Thanks for the advice man. I think I will actualy do this shit up :thumbsup

zentz 11-27-2003 04:18 AM

I didn't think of a ssmoke till now, lets see if theres one somewhere in the house ;-)

mrthumbs 11-27-2003 06:53 AM

the REAL question is:

how do you keep your desk clean while chain smoking

notjoe 11-27-2003 06:56 AM

You'll never do it

You'd be better off just kicking the habbit.

Think about it, if you chain smoke now you'll probably be going out for one every 15 mins, the urge to chain smoke wont end you'll just become less productive!

What i do to break the chain is smoke a joint after every few cigs

When we were stuck in Georgia hell, we smoked in the house. I think I was up to three packs a day.

Now that we're home, we do not smoke in the house. I smoke less than a pack a day.

Happy Thanksgiving, Amp!

i have to agree with this even tho i was to lazy to ever keep it going.
I think its a lot easier for you considering you live in paradise where when you step outside for a smoke its like 30 degrees lol
where as if we step out its more like 5 degrees and thats providing the snow hasnt hit, all in celsius of course

going for a lil over a pack a day in the last 10-12 years im on my second smoke free week and its startin to look good

loverboy 11-27-2003 09:11 AM

im just finishing my pack, had only 2 sticks today.. after that,
im done smoking. too much pressure makes me wanna
buy a pack and get some time off.

keep yourself busy while working at home and store
you cigs away from your workplace so you won't
be tempted to light a smoke. make your workplace
smoke free and if you have children, try to be more
concerned about their welfare and health. :thumbsup

wyldblyss 11-27-2003 09:17 AM

When we moved into our new house we made a rule "no smoking in the house". If we want a smoke we go outside and in the winter we go and smoke in the garage. Sure cuts down on how much you smoke, the mess you make at the computer and the house sure smells a lot better.

JamesK 11-27-2003 09:19 AM

use something stronger

bogo 11-27-2003 09:42 AM

when i play Call of Duty or Wolfenstein,i smoke twice as much :(
