I want to buy digital camcorder, what do I need to know?

I want to buy a camcorder, Sony I guess. Not gonna shoot content with it, just for fun, etc. What do I need to look for?

well, unless you want to save time in the conversion/capture process, most consumer level digital camcorders produce the same quality as(if not worse than) analog camcorders, yet cost more.

If money isn't an issue, go digital. If it is, stick with analog.

One of the things that gets me is these new DVD camcorders that are coming out. I believe they are made by Sony, but not sure. They sport VCD quality capture, but record directly on DVD?!?
Either they are burning DVD-Rom (which they don't specify) or they are burning non-standard DVD's OR they are converting crappy quality video to DVD standard (waste of processing power, and unlikely from a camera)

anyway, just my :2 cents:

I just purchased that exact cam, and I love it, but I use it to stream 12-15 hours a day too, I'm glad I chose it :2 cents:

AkiraSS 11-27-2003 06:33 PM

I didnt need the still function,
I make stills / pictures using a digital camera,
the camcorder is just for amateur videos, family & stuff, maybe some blowjobs in the car etc...
