The Redmond, Washington, software maker will pay its customers' full legal bills if they get sued over intellectual property issues relating to its products. Also, Microsoft no longer limits its liability when a customer suffers damages due to gross negligence or intentional misconduct on Microsoft's part, said Morris Kremen, associate general counsel at Microsoft, in an interview on Tuesday.

It also signals a evolution in their corporate philosophy. Anyone using MS encoding tools or video format will probably be sued by Acacia. If MS is really interested in protecting their customers, this is good news for us and bad news for Acacia.

Hopefully the IMPA has been in contact with MS about this.

The amount of wasted bandwidth due to M$ works which turn around and DDOS other machines would be HUGE. What about the amount of money for lost sales during the times of attack? What about damage done to networks along the path of destruction from the worm? What about affected customers in the middle?

The chances of everyone in the middling suing the affected company who will then cry to M$ to imdemify them may be nill but what happens if it happen every single time someone got nailed but an out of control M$ Machine?

It's possible... but the concensus has been that the date that MS said they'd step in and ac*cias starting up last year... See what I mean? As well as the customer definition not being explained.

If MS were actually going to make a move, they would have by now you'd think. They know what is going on whether they admit it or not. ;-) You don't get to be a trillion dollar company without having whole departments that just dig information up.

So by sitting and staying mute, they'd be hurting themselves when it went public. Even if they were ignoring the adult industry, could they sit by after the schools were informed?

One of the problems is that Acacia is really good with press releases and the other side is silent.

If MS felt pressure from the public they would probably be more likely to get involved.

There is almost no press coming from those who believe that the patent is worthless.

exactly the PR at Homegrown is about as good as this patent being legit. I always wondered why they have no releases, maybe they know something I dont, very possible

the reason we don't hear much from microsoft, realplayer, AOL, CNN, abcnews, Sony, etc, etc ,etc


is that they do not take acacia seriously as a threat.
