60 Minutes Porn Special

60 Minutes is runnign a special on porn tonight. The trailer said more people watch porn than sports. Should be interesting...

frankthetank 11-23-2003 01:50 PM

Looks really interesting, they provide some really interesting facts on their website, should be a very good watch.

Here is the article on the show tonight

doober 11-23-2003 01:57 PM

cant wait, they will be dragging big names into it like GM and marriot hotels Time warner, comcast and hopefully a few bigothers...
Maybe people wont think its such a big deal if these comapnies they know and trust are profiting from the ditribution of porn first hand... :2 cents:

Pornwolf 11-23-2003 02:20 PM

No chance. This feature is just going to go in one ear and right out the other of our traditional Christian Pilgrim detractors.

Jer 11-23-2003 03:04 PM

Thanks for the link! Too bad I don't have cable yet (I'm not even sure if we have CBS here), I'm working with my wife on a project (for her college) about the internet adult entertainment industry... we'll add some facts that can be found in the article.

Very interesting.

that just proves porn isn't going anywhere anytime soon :thumbsup

Well, I think the question that we should ask ourselves is, what impact would "open acceptance" really have. Would it be positive, or negative for the current model of the adult industry? We know the majority of people are consumers, we also know they annually spend billions of dollars.

Would it make sense to suggest that "open acceptance" is not be the best. The possibility of a takeover by mainstream giants could become more likely.

tootie 11-23-2003 05:04 PM

Speaking of sports, there's a football game on right now when the 60 Minutes show is supposed to be on :(

This Vivid guy is brilliant ( has a MBA, talks well) .... The more guys like this in the public eye, the better the business will be accepted...

Probably now we will be treated to the sleaze...

maxjohan 11-23-2003 05:55 PM

PerfectionGirls 11-23-2003 05:56 PM

So far is has been extremely interesting!

The guy from Vivid did a great job of presenting the industry and its mainstream involvement.

BrentD 11-23-2003 06:02 PM

Well in fact, it is much more damaging to the youngsters that are exposed daily to it. It shows youg girls how they should be and act to be "kewl" and guys what to expect from girls...

Much more damaging than ANY porn available to consenting adults...

:2 cents:

some_idiot 11-23-2003 06:12 PM

Well that was a let down. I figured they would have atleast
brought up something new since their last feature.

Blah blah blah porn blah blah blah. Yep that'll get our
ratings back up during football season.

modF 11-23-2003 06:13 PM

Luke Ford is such a jackass.

I watched it and thought it clarified a lot of points that the sky is falling people fail to see. Porn is definitely a HUGE industry both online and offline. Companies on the stock exchange and other huge corporations with their hands in it.

They made it clear that the Justice Department has no intentions of completely wiping out porn; they couldn't even if they wanted to. They are targetting EXTREME cases. If anything, porn is becoming more acceptable in mainstream America than ever and a bit of regulation will not hurt any of us.

However, the more acceptable it becomes, the more corporate giants that will have their hands in it and stamp out the mom and pop porn sites. So I say let people believe it is as taboo as ever and let everyone stay a closet porn viewer... that's to our benefit. But now that the cat is out of the bag... it's anyone's game.

Oracle Porn 11-23-2003 06:23 PM

when is it and what channel?

Yep... I also understood it that way. They are going after 50+ cases of the "most extreme material" out there. Those who really challenge and push the law. Meaning, the avg co that has "mainstrem porn" should be ok.

Drake 11-23-2003 07:25 PM

I only caught the second half:( Interesting though.

Quotealex 11-23-2003 08:16 PM

I watch 7 minutes if you include the time fast forwarding to the good scene and then past the part where they have to show the guy's ugly mug. =]

psyko514 11-24-2003 12:45 AM

You watch porn movies from beginning to end? WTF?
