I'm glad rugby is getting more popular in the UK, when I lived there in 2001 there was *nothing* about rugby.. The support I saw for football was unbelievable, I thought New Zealand was passionate about rugby but the UK and football is something else.

We can all gloat now about the victory, but in truth in a couple of months time most of us will not be able to name 4-5 of the team. Rugby is an elitist sport in the UK and very regionalised. Its a very small minority sport compared to Football, and always will be due to its impossible to understand rules, and a beautifl game it certainly aint!:1orglaugh

RU is probably third in terms of winter sports in Australia behind rugby league, and Australian Rules.. However RU is gaining a lot ground on these other codes, especially since they won the '91 world cup (before that Australia had less rugby players than the USA)..
Perhaps winning the world cup can spur RU onto more mainstream acceptance in the UK.. Although the class system in the UK probably stands more in the way than it did in Australia.
