Sept 11 Commission to Subpoena NY City for Tapes
What exactly are officials of multiple levels of government trying to hide????

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The national commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks said on Thursday it would issue a subpoena to New York City for materials that include tapes and transcripts of emergency calls made on that day.
It said that at a meeting on Wednesday it had voted to demand the material "crucial to its investigation that the city has failed to produce in response to a document request issued more than four months ago."
A city spokesman said handing over the material would violate the privacy of the victims and emergency responders.
The documents covered by the subpoena included tapes and transcripts of emergency 911 calls that are "critical to understanding the interaction between members of the public and the city on September 11, 2001," the commission said.
The subpoena also requires New York City to produce transcripts of hundreds of interviews of firefighters conducted by the fire department after the attacks, to throw light on the performance of the department on Sept. 11, it said.
"The city's failure to produce these important documents has significantly impeded the commission's investigation," it said in a statement. The 10-member panel is trying to meet a May deadline for completion of its report.
