Acacia takes it's toll... links to vids gone

Plans were to leave up links to links of vids for visitors of the TGP I edit through the middle of next week, but I deleted them all tonight just to move on. It was just a courtesy giving access to them, so it was just when I deleted the links since I will not support Acacia's efforts. I'm sure everyone will work this out there own way, but this is a closed story for me. Should Acacia wish to pursue it any further they can contact me as I have no plans of contacting them on something I have never owned or made revenue off of. And don't anyone even attempt to make the paltry attempt at justifying their patents with ludicrious statements that they own the internet and they can pursue me. That is their choice.

For everyone's knowledge.... the following revenue services I have dealt with over the last 3 years do not have access to my full name and Acacia did, so they should not be persecuted in this witch hunt.

Flynt Digital
ARS
Siccash
Sunny Dollars
CCBill
IBill

There are other revenue services I used before that and it's possible that they might have my full name.

And I have only bought content for site design from Tom Mayes and Xtremecontent.net. Of which all was Tom Mayes content. Who sold me out? I don't have a clue, but I will gladly give access to the name in front of every visitor across the site I edit should it come to light. They deserve the recognition.

In the mean time.... this subject is closed as there is no immediate end to what Acacia is attempting and it deserves no further justification.

Good luck to all!

Did they actually sue you?

Or did you just wimp out and pull all video links because you are a chickenshit who is afraid of maybe getting a certified letter?

Support The IMPA with LARGE cold hard amounts of cash... we did.

Hopefully something happens Friday but I wouldn't hold my breath for any breakthroughs. Maybe a stay on the Nov 30th would be about it.

For some reason that's what I expected from this board. You assume that you know what the answer is and you are not even close. I'm told that the patents are probably not valid, but in the mean time it's at least 3-6 months to prove that. In the mean time you are telling me that I should way my interests because some can be validly be sued right now like On Command?

Since when was it in anyone's best interest to post here to get a certified suit to prove a point? Who's the fucked up one in that? If you decide to post vids and press Acacia that is your issue. I will pass.

we also pulled all our links to Michael Jackson. why take chances?

I can see where they may have some claim on the actual USE of video files, where the site owner has the movie files on his own domain and is linking directly to those files for profit........ however, I can NOT see where Acacia has any power or right to prevent a remote site like a TGP from having hyperlinks on thier site that lead to pages on OTHER sites that contain links to movie files.

No way, no how. Nope. Sorry. Won't fly..... no one can fucking tell you where you can and can't link. No one. Don't need a lawyer to corroborate this either.

If Acacia has the right to tell us where we can link to, (or if we give them that right by caving in every time they yell "BOO" at us), then we may as well find a new fucking line of work. Acacia does not own the hyperlink.

As always, everyone should be donating. (link in sig to the IMPA)

It doesn't matter if you made no money off of the site(s)... Acacia's got that covered as well. $1500 fee, to be paid yearly.
And if you don't sign a license and pay the fee, they'll charge you the $1500 and back fees for years past.

Lovely, ain't it?

The best you can hope for is that they don't really want to pursue thousands of lawsuits to match the thousands of 3-page letters they sent out.

Btw, I doubt we'll see anything done Friday. The judge has stated that there will be a hearing in March of '04. Getting a stay on the Nov. 30th thing is even doubtful, as the letters they just sent out have no bearing on the cases at hand. Although the judge *was* shocked when he asked how many more letters they had sent out and their response was "thousands".

There are also companies who own patents on images, on "the link", on join forms and much more. Aren't you scared of them too?

How about the AG? How about VISA? How about your own shadow?

Why not just shut your doors, put your tail between your legs, run back to those Golden Arches, and stick the MickeyD's hat back on? :1orglaugh

... And yeah, I'm entitled to my opinion too, so if you don't like it, :321GFY

I consider this to all be your fault, Mike, for those fence sitting remarks of yore. :)

That, and I no longer suffer fools gladly. Nor silently.
