was talking to some chick today, she starts going on and on about how she "campaignes"

wtf?

i never got into D&D because it seamed like i never had the time it took to learn just the basics of the shit. but she made it sound pretty interesting.

anyone play this? she talks about it like its a cult or something lol

I Played D&D all my child hood. I am an Avid Everquest player now and been playing for quite a while. Alot of D&D folks or in the old school term "Role Players" come to play everquest.

One thing ya goto remember that alot of todays current technologies and idea's have been thought up by that generation.

take a look at the terms Unix commands and proxxies etc.

Used to D&D when I was about 12, but never got past the basic stuff... moved on to mudding in college, but never really got into everquest.

I never knew even one female who did that stuff...

Truth be known also about this. It might b cult like, but i have met over 20 Adultwebmasters in RN alone that are EQ'rs. Of course I will do the favor and not mention names.

Kids don't seem to play pen and paper RPGs anymore. :( Seems like computer games have mostly killed that market which is a real shame IMO.

I played from about age 7 till I was in my mid twenties. Did the whole convention crap, ran a hobby store, was previously published in Dragon ect. Sold all the stuff this year actually after not touching it for years.

Was still kind of hard to pack it up and ship it all off, kinda like a huge chunk of my childhood.

My husband and I love AD&D, Shadowrun and GURPS.

Do not play Eq it will OWN you if ya can not handle it.

I am serious.

Peeps been known to die at the keyboard playing it for 4 days straight on drugs and numerous others.
its a very emotional game where you truly meet people and genuinely see people for what they are.

Its not always pretty consider it an experience in pure Socialiality..

:2 cents: I have been an avid roleplayer since 1978, everything from D&D, AD&D, BattleTech, Gurps, and my favorite Rolemaster. I have been lucky to have a great group of local players here in the Tampa Bay area for over 16 years now, a game every other week where we get together is much better than a bowling night out.

And yes to those of you weighing in on EQ, Star Wars, & UO they will suck you in!:winkwink:

I have been playing about fifteen years. Dungeons & Dragons is very addicting as is the other pen & paper role-playing games. I actually like them better than the computer games. I have also played Twilight 2000, Top Secret, Champions, GURPs and so many more. I even made up my own rpg.

Rich, send her my way. My friend got married to a woman who plays D&Ds but I'm still looking one. If she love playing amazons so much the better :Graucho

No time for games like EQ (shitty game anyway) or DAOC (good game, but too time consuming).

But I do plan to check out World of Warcraft when it comes out.

world of warcraft is 100% pve though..

and that sucks :)

I just got Advanced DND for the Intellivision today.. does that count?

oh and if you want a game online to play with PVP check out Neocron.. it is sci-fi but still the best MMO on the market..

downloading and installing shadowbane right now.. aparently that is all hardcore PVP.. will have to see how that goes

I was the cool kid in school, i.e. I ended up dropping out and was a total loser for a few years. But my sister was a fanatic and I became one as well. Hell, without her I wouldn't have gotten in the Internet business.
