Where can I find high quality car pictures?

My wife is working on a magazine ad (college work) and she needs high quality pictures (not internet sized pics) of the Honda Civic Sedan. I'm searching google for more than 90 minutes and I can't find any! Hondanews.com has the kind of pictures I'm looking for, but you need a password to download the pics :(

Can you help us?

Jer

I suggest you visit a Honda dealership and scan one of the booklets they have. I doubt you will be able to find a 300 PPI picture floating around. You can also send Honda an e-mail. I did that during my school time with Mercedes, was for 3D for, but they supplied me with pictures and "blueprints". Good luck, let us know how it worked out.

If she's doing a magazine ad she DEFINITELY does not want to scan someone else's copyrighted work. Her BEST bet is to check some of the stock photography sites.

www.wonderfile.com is one, and there are quite a few more if she searches for stock photography in google.

Oh, and if you can't find anything on the stock photography sites, why not try emailing honda.com or something, generally they would be pleased to give you permission to use one of their images, and may even provide you one with the model of vehicle you require. DO NOT USE PICTURES WITHOUT PERMISSION!!

I sell a lot of my mainstream photography through sites like Wonderfile.

One of the biggest and best is www.comstock.com, but be prepared to pay for the images there.

Corbis is also good with a good reputation.
www.corbis.com

The biggest and best is Masterfile. www.masterfile.com They have photography from some of the top guys in the world. THe prices aren't cheap, but their quality is unsurpassed.

Thanks LadyMischief, but the magazine ad is just for her college, just the teacher will see it. It won't be published in any way.

The image doesn't need to be 300DPI, 150DPI would be fine.

insane prices.........i'm gonna become mainstream photographer

Validus 11-19-2003 07:28 AM

Yea, it is college work? would really suggest to drive down to a dear and just grab a booklet. I mean, just to get the pictures. Other then that one always learns when seeing somebody else work. And it is all about learning :)

Actually, call Honda, I am sure they have Press pictures and packages.

I'd still suggest just emailing Honda, telling them what it's for.. I pretty much guarantee they will be more than pleased to provide you with the pictures you want free of charge :)

For that price you can rent the car, drive it to somewhere nice, take the pictures yourself (if you know how to shoot the good ones) and enjoy it for the rest of the day :winkwink:

Jer 11-19-2003 07:56 AM

And I found them just in time, my wife will be here in 30 minutes :)

CE_BigB 11-19-2003 07:58 AM

Tell wifey to grab her cam and hit the honda dealership.
Take the car of choice on a test spin... and go park in prescouted location and shoot the car...

tell the salesman you are hanging the photos on the wall and going to choose cars that way...

Use the images in the story, then give herself photo credits in the story... and next thing you know.. folks will be contacting her for images...

.... hmm or test rides?

Thank you all!
