WinXP professional edition over WinXP home edition?
I have WinXP home edition on my PC, if I buy WinXP professional edition and install it, would it do any damage to my programs or files? Any idea or experience? Is it worth trying that, or just stay with the Home edition? :helpme

If you do the upgrade, all your files stay the same. Its definitly worth it to do the upgrade. I find that XP Pro is more stable. I would still definitly back up my files before doing the upgrade, well at least just the important ones.

windows home is recommended for up to 5 users on a network pro is recommended if nore users on network. Installin pro over home wont effect programs.

Everyone is right on the money. WinXP rocks and is the most stable OS MS has put out. I found I can have a tremendous amout of programs open as a graphics person, that's a real timesaver. XP PRO has has a webserver that is good for test databases etc.
Good idea to back up your important files before the upgrade 0 but that's always a good thing to do. Only program that had problems after the upgrade was ICQ so I recommened reinstalling it after. FInal hint, XP can be a real workhourse - just make sure you have enough RAM to take full advantage. |
Yeah, do the upgrade or you gonna die.. You'll need to re-install over all programs! That's shitty long!! :thumbsup
