Good idea ;)

Rorschach 11-18-2003 10:42 PM

Hell yeah... it partially defeats the purpose of running it locally if you are using Windows.

What exactly is not working? Can you post an error message?

shadowskill 11-19-2003 12:20 AM

once i try http://localhost i get nothing, i want to be able to see the index.html in the htdocs folder....
i already renamed index.html.en to index.html

Ad3pt 11-19-2003 12:26 AM

Did you start apache?

Open a console. Change to the folder to which you installed Apache, type the command apache, and read the error message.

That'd be funny if he didn't even start the server! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Also shadowskill - did you set the document root right?

everything is in place...and yes i did started the server....

there is a line in the conf file
userdir some_folder/some_folder

probably this is the problem...what should i place here ?

Ad3pt 11-19-2003 12:35 AM

Go back to your apache install dir and type this

more < logs\error.log

then paste the output here.

dude, post a copy of your conf file, you need to set the directory up to the directory you have your webroot to! Maybe you just need to switch to the easy IIS! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Seriously... Did you even read the instructions? (RTFM)?

The windows install works out of the box. The only thing you might need to do is set the Servername.. (or uncomment it)..

If you would just post your damn httpd.conf file it would be a lot easier to diagnose.

Another thing you might try is to connect to http://127.0.0.1/ instead of localhost (maybe your hosts file is jacked up.)

Ad3pt 11-19-2003 12:41 AM

I stand twice corrected then. Wow, even more to confuse someone with.

shadowskill 11-19-2003 12:50 AM

listen i tried this webserver called phptriad....it's an apache mixed with php...it works fine...this means my http://localhost isn't jacked up....

http://moneyexp.com/httpd.conf (non working conf file)
i just want the http://localhost 2 work , thanks guys
