Thumbnail Preview Scripts.. What do you want in them?

It seems like the most common thumbnail preview scripts out right now are MadTGP and Comus...

As a webmaster, what functions would you like to see a thumb preview script that aren't already available in the current scripts out there?

Murderous 11-18-2003 05:31 PM

pre-loading, faster loading, db cache, somethin damn...

Hardcore J 11-18-2003 11:23 PM

Nobody else?

RaGe 11-18-2003 11:25 PM

I havn't used comus, just madtgp.. but..

easier methods of blacklisting.
automation of paid gallery spots.
better management for text links as well as thumbs.
better support for archives.
a whole new submission system where every user has a user/pass and can look up past submits and see which got accepted/denied, how many clicks they got, etc.

I have more ideas..

good management system for paid spots.

right now Comus ROCKS! :thumbsup

an option that will allow you to crop TWO or more thumbs for each gal and have them change every couple of mins/hours.

Nice, that's a good one.

What are some of your favorite aspects of Comus?

Za Ha 11-18-2003 11:37 PM

I like the fact that you can preload as many pics as you want (I usally do 200-300) and get a coffee and wait for it to finish. Then cropping takes no time at all. :thumbsup

Another thing is to have an option to AUTO resize all thumbs.
I WOULD LOVE THIS!

I can grow a site VERY fast with big thumbs (120x120) and then press a button to resize to (100x100) then to 88x88 and have a quality site in the end.

write the how to do things in english not tech speak (fucking programers allways do this) I own a copy of Comus and its great but the tech info mossaswell be writen in russian I know Im sick of asking for tech support as much as he is in supplying it.

Hardcore J 11-18-2003 11:45 PM

One of the problems I've always had with Comus is that its admin interface is not user friendly at all.

I've also never been a big fan of their auto cropper simply because the thumbs often come out blurry, rather than the thumbs that I make in photoshop which are very clear.

Regardless, keep the suggestions coming...

Yeah, programmers aren't meant to be people friendly, didn't you know that? :1orglaugh

Bake 11-18-2003 11:54 PM

The problem is programers understand what is going on and they simply cant understand why I cannot well thats all well and good the problem is still there Im 100% clueless as what he just said he could speak in russian and make more since.

Za Ha 11-18-2003 11:56 PM

Bake is 100% right, if programmers took a biz course in any type of school they would probably make 1000% more money then they are currently making because NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND THE STUPID PROGRAMMING LINGOS

Comus Support is top notch so no complaints there.

I agree with having more then 1 size thumb, we should be able to have multiple index pages that then rotate between them.

Best would be to integrate with Tm3 or UCJ and have it track prod per page design. (no need to reinvent the trade script)
That would require maybe a little help from the trade programmer.

Search engine should be standard for galleries w/nice template results pages. (Both Text & Thumb or combo for results page)

Proxy support for the gallery scanner to combat theives would be nice.

I've never seen the admin area of TManager, what are some of the features that make it so good?
