I still think a lot of people are on 800X600? What's your opinion? |

Looking at stats gathered from over a million surfers I see this:
1024x768 47.26% 800x600 32.56% 1280x1024 7.82% |
My stats tell me to use 800x600 too :2 cents:
|
Well, if 32% of our traffic is on 800x600, I think that we MUST desing our shit on 800x600..

I optimize for 800x600. Still a significant amount of ppl that use that res. And if it looks Good in 800x600, it will look acceptable in higher res. But if it looks good at 1024x768, it will look like pure crap in 800x600.

|
800x600
for my main stream stuff it is over 40% but porn surfers run in the high 30% range. Still a big chunk of traffic. |
Anyone remember in '96 when Netscape had 90% of the surfers and IE was about 5%?
Man how times change. |

Most use 800x600.. why I don't know.. they're all possibly half blind and need everything magnified perhaps?
|
Hey..
I made a mistake with my calculations (did them by hand).... these numbers are based on "only" 13,544,287 uniques ... so .. this results in: - 1024x768 - 6,663,829 (49,20%) - 800x600 - 4,828,996 (35,65%) - 1280x1024 - 1,008,177 (7,44%) - 1152x864 - 575,498 (4,25%) - 1600x1200 - 246,652 (1,82%) There, now the percentages make a lot more sense :) |
1024x768:thumbsup
|
1024x768 175496 47.37%
800x600 134361 36.26% 1280x1024 26452 7.14% 1152x864 17295 4.66% 640x480 6540 1.76% Other 6334 1.70% 1600x1200 3969 1.07% Last week stats.... |
There are a lot of surfers still at 800x600 although 1024x768 is picking up as more and more people are upgrading their machines. I still can't imagine life at anything less than 1600x1200 though :(
|
Looks like the 1024x768 are starting to catch on...!!!
|
It will be a better world when all the 800x600 people finally upgrade to 1024x768
|
yeah but seems that 35-40% of all users are on 8X6
|
I made my new site for 1024x768 and it was doing fine. Once a buddy told me he had to scroll sideways I redid it and it EXPLODED! So my lesson was to always design for 8x6.
