is there any good project management software?

for those big projects, where theres a lot of features you wish to impliment, is there any software that keeps all of the ideas organized.. where you can check off areas you've completed, so when ya load it it reminds you exactly what needs to be finished

anythin like that?? i get too cluttered when it comes to projects with a lot of files and programming...

check out gforge, it is a branch of the original open source sourceforge code maintained by one of the original developers. it's a bit heavy but can easily support hundreds or thousands of users on a single unix/linux/bsd machine.

from their site:

"GForge is an Open Source collaborative software development tool, which allows you to organize and manage any number of software development projects. It's perfect for managing large teams of software engineers and/or engineers scattered among multiple locations."

web site: http://www.gforge.org/

gforge 3.0 FAQ: http://gforge.org/docman/view.php/1/24/faq.html

we use gforge internally and have set it up for some of our top-end customers at no charge too :)

I believe Microsoft has an app for that. Its called PROJECT. Do a search in MSFT's site for app package features.

MSProject

MS Project is really a de facto standard out in the real world...

kmanrox 11-17-2003 07:28 AM

fuck, even simpler... MSOutlook will keep u on top of things...

Madball 11-17-2003 07:31 AM

You can manage yourself with MS Outlook but not a project involving 10 teams with 10 people each working on 20 sub projects.

I believe the newer versions of Outlook & Ms Project are even intertwined: you can move a task from Outlook to Project and assign a subteam to work on it.

does galleryseek look/sound like a person who manages 10 teams of programmers or does he sound like an unorganized shmuck who needs reminders and To Do lists?
