Convicts... we may have started there, but tell me why you would gather up all your criminals and send them to a tropical paradise, then 200 years have a situation where they're beating you at all the sports you taught them, like cricket, tennis (when was the last english ATP ranked #1) and soon to be rugby :1orglaugh

All in good fun, mate

I'm sick of hearing that swiiiiing low fucking shit....the barmy army have obviously run out of enough brain cells to come up with something else. Just like the poms can't do anything else but rely on Wilkinson's boot...:glugglug

Exactly. The LAST world cup. That would be the difference between saying you never have had a chance of beating us and not a chance of beating us ;)

sacX 11-16-2003 04:46 AM

heh when was the last time an England team won anything major sporting wise? 1966? Basic theory is England sucks at sports (can't even beat australia @ football ;))..

Must be frightening for you, blue.

Johny Traffic 11-16-2003 04:48 AM

Its got to be said Australia do beat us at everything.

But like it or not we have the best rugby team in the world today, you know that as well as I do. But that said beating Australia in Australia is gonna be a tough one, beating any good team on their home soil is tough.

But weve been doing just that all year so, lets hope :thumbsup

I actually went to that game. First England game Ive seen.....at upton park.......... was a fucking joke....... the whole crowd ended up cheering Australia and booing England...... cause the England team just didnt give a fuck. They were wankers.

But This time my Kangaroo Cousin I think you might be in for a shock

Definitely a great setup for the final. Is the rugby getting much press coverage in england? or is it still football, football, football?

Chris E 11-16-2003 04:56 AM

We have to beat the aussies at something and we are the better team, so come on boys!

Weve finally realised we are shit at football...... and found something we are good at....... so yes its getting coverage.......just wonder how long it will be before the England players start marrying pop stars and wearing womens dresses

Jonny is the new Becks! Better at free kicks aswell if you believe the adverts.

Tipsy 11-16-2003 05:04 AM

SKY has been magical for rugby. Buying all the rights to any half-decent football so that a HUGE chunk of the UK can't or won't pay to access it has meant a huge shift back towards rugby. Doing so has put the passion back into the game and that's why we're winning - we care now.

Long my sky continue to keep most football from the masses. I've started to enjoy rugby more these days :)

Very true aswell as the move to proffesionalism.

Would you enjoy it as much if we wearnt currently the best in the world? Im not sure I would...... its exciting knowing we are so fucking good.

Still will be a tough job beating Australia in Australia

Yep - all connected to the SKY thing I think. It's actually worth advertising and sponsoring rugby now that it gets the viewing figures, so makes it much easier to go professional.

Either way the result is we're currently probably the best team in the world at the moment at a game we invented. A rare thing.

Hmmmm..tough call but I think yes but....

Unless I have a team I'm passionate about I don't really enjoy many sports as a spectator, although there are a few exceptions. I don't currently have a UK rugby team I care about so it means the only matches that interest me personally tend to be internationals. Us being good at the moment simply means I get to enjoy more of them. However being good doesn't make me like it more. I'll happpily watch cricket, tennis, football etc if we're playing on the world stage. Rugby is just a ittle more exciting is all :)

Oh and yep - gonna be a tough game against a good team. England probably should win but in reality doesn't mean we will (don't tell the crims I said that) :)

Even so - swiiiing looooooooooow

Club rugby doesn't interest me whatsoever. Where as club soccer obviously does.

sacX 11-16-2003 05:29 AM

it's hard to argue that England are not the best team in the world, the results certainly say that, but it won't really be proven until the final next week :)

Ted 11-16-2003 05:30 AM

I was looking forward to New Zealand beating australia last night just so the poms wouldnt have the chance to say they beat Australia.(my pissed logic says that if England didn't play australia in the world cup then they can't claim to have beaten them.)

But now it's on and after seeing what australia did to the All blacks, I won't be placing a bet on either side. I think Australia still have some tricks up their sleeves.

heh I live in New Zealand but support Australia, had to remain pretty quiet yesterday night for fear for my safety. Only got punched a few times, mostly by my girlfriend :)

Chris E 11-16-2003 05:32 AM

I think NZ would have beaten us so I am very pleased we have the aussies! They are very beatable!

No chance..... we are the best team in the world..... we would without a doubt have beaten NZ in the final...... the worse case for us was to play Australia in the final...... the second best team in the world plus in there own soil in there home ground

No way... Australias defence was incredible and they won on the day but 7/10 times NZ would have won!

Chris E 11-16-2003 05:42 AM

Australia were lucky to beat Ireland! That says alot! France destroyed Ireland.

Big Nath 11-16-2003 06:00 AM

HAHA You poms are sooo funny !!!

The only reason England is in the final is because the Kiwis played us instead of you.

If it was australia vs france and england vs new zealand it would be a aussie vs kiwis final, no doubt about it..

Although you do have a good team you arent even a match for New Zealand let alone us Australians !!

Your living in about the year 2000 my friend. We are at the moment without a doubt the best in the world even the Australians and New Zeelanders know that. As to whether we will beat them on their soil in a final Im not so sure

Chris E 11-16-2003 06:06 AM

Even having stolen most of your backs from League you will still lose. (Hope so anyway!)

Yea, then we'd have to go all the way back to..... June 2003 to recall the last time we gave Australia an ass whooping in their own backyard :1orglaugh
