Well most of our revenues are in U.S. dollars, and when the exchange rate was hovering in the 62 cent range, it meant more money for us after the converting it to Canadian dollars. Get it?

USD sux :(, I think most americans are oblivious to how crap their dollar has become.

i think he meant the good run ended sometime ago..

this sucks bad for canada, it is bad for exports because we have less buyers as our dollar rises. also for me as i get payed in usd it sucks bad. i wonder if i got payed in euros if it would make a difference at all. this is the reason why china controls there dollar so that countries can easily afford to buy there exports and there population doesnt have the amount of money to buy imports. thus keeping the market all within their own country.

Then move to China. No, seriously, if a good run was ending, it ended at 62 cents, not 77 cents. Personally, although I understand the negative effects on our economy, I think we should be proud of a rising dollar.

Our exports still have a large surplus; we still have a ton of resources that others will need. I would rather sell 5 items at $20 than 10 items at $10 because I have the same amount of money and 5 more items to sell. Obviously, someone being paid in US dollars gets hurt by this more than me. I get paid commissions in Canadian dollars in USD accounts...

But if you want a controlled internal economy, move to China. They probably won't allow you to do business in another country though...and if they do, they will tax you through the ass so you don't reap the benefits of a currency discrepancy.

What the fuck is wrong with the US dollars!?? Whats the word in the US on that situation..? Does the experts anticipate the US dollar to be stronger withing the next year!?

I don't necessarily want a weak Canadian dollar..... I just want a strong AMERICAN dollar, that's all. <img SRC="http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif">



I would like nothing better than to have the US dollars I earn convert into $1.50+ each.... but really, anything over par is a bonus, even if it's only 30 cents.


But one can't help but miss those days of $1.60+ per USD. *sigh*

no matter wat way u look on it, i think its a negative affect, the only thing its good for is if we travel.

Similar thing in AU, recently it hit the highest levels in a decade or two. In 2001 it was at $USD0.48, now it's hovering around $USD0.72. A lot of the hard work to increase my earnings over the past year has been shaved off by currency conversion losses. :(

$USD1000 now: $AUD1388

That's about a third down.

I travel. And, I like to know that the brown bills in my wallet have more purchasing power on a worldwide scale today than they did yesterday...

If more than 50% of your income was in US dollars you might think different though.

Agreed...and I am sure the CEO here feels the same way as you.

It doesn't matter and I hope the canadian dollar will go to 80 cents for 1$/us. Less money on my checks but less expensive for me to go in the US so for canadians who go in the US sometimes it is good.
