Looks as if japan uses the most

Pornwolf 11-13-2003 11:07 AM

Methinks it's time to conquer another land mass. We seem to be running out of places to put lights. I think South America will do nicely.

loco12 11-13-2003 11:17 AM

while the picture looks impressive, what about the terrible light pollution? I live in the sticks and can go outside to pitch black. Better than a load of old streetlights.:2 cents:

traffictrader 11-13-2003 11:47 AM

is the picture photoshoped or what? Because it's mathmatically impossible to see the world like that from space.

Did they take a bunch of pictures and edit them together or what?

BrentD 11-13-2003 11:49 AM

Guess that proves us in the midwest and east coast use more electricity then anywhere else int he world :thumbsup

They must have, because at no time is the entire world experiencing "night".

I couldn't find it, but the most striking one I have seen was of the Korean peninsula at night, where the South is all lit up and the North is entirely black.

SR 11-13-2003 12:08 PM

That's a very nice pic!

Welcome to 4 years ago! :1orglaugh

evilregis 11-13-2003 03:15 PM

It's a legit photo... it's just a composite of shots. Much like in MANY of the larger images you see of other planets and galaxies. To get that detail they have to take many close up shots then piece them together.

Juggernaut 11-13-2003 03:17 PM

Is that a graphic of where the US has all of it's Norad missile centres? :)

Scootermuze 11-13-2003 04:09 PM

Just goes to show that the old map makers did a pretty good job..
