Mind Your Business!

is it a good idea to tell your significant other all your business? doesnt that cause conflict? Im thinking like when girls ask u specific details about your business is it wrong for me to tell them mind your business or better yet just enough information to shut them up? Whats the makes of a man anyways?

I had a very similar issue last night. This week I finally got myself on line at home so I could do additional work and look at my own ventures.

Just four days in and she saying she wants to sit next to me while I am on the computer and can I explain this and that.

What a nightmare theres me trying to better myself no longer wasting time on the PS2 and shes going on at me. She has agreed to make me up a pretty spreedsheet with all my user names and passwords...mmmmmmm I think not!!

Kat Daddy,

Good FUCKING question....

My dad (RIP) told me when I was a teen NEVER let a woman know 100% of your business, especailly if your doing something thats not above board. If shit goes sour you run the risk of her messing your situaition up real bad.

I tend to keep things on a Need To Know basis, if she got beef with that "theres the door baby".

As far as selling porn I may say that I host a site or two but that's all she needs to know if she has beef with that once again - "theres the door baby".

If I had a girlfriend of course she'd know the nature of my business, but as far as the internal operations NOT!!!

Remember that scene from the God Father when the wife asked if he had some dude bumped off.

And the gave that speech about
I TOLD YOU TO NEVER ASK ME ABOUT MY AFFAIRS.........

BUT THIS ONE TIME I'LL ALLOW YOU TO......
she asked him if the had the dude killed and he lied with a straight face and said no.

:thumbsup

Yeah my Mom said a woman always has secrets she will take to her grave. How true that is.

But I think in general, in a relationship, that each person should be an individual first. Have their own life and then come together with another person and share with that person what they need to and want to. Everyone needs his or her own space. :)

Are we talking husband/wife? Committed life partner type thing or just dating?

I'm not sure I'd tell someone I was just dating exactly what I did. Probably give them the "web design" story I give most people. Unless they would make good content. :)

I think it's different if you're married or seriously committed. My fiance doesn't know everything about my business. He certainly couldn't sit down and do it for me. But he knows enough about what comes from where and why to take care of things if something happened to me. More than that, he knows who to contact to find out what to do with all my sites and traffic. Probably more important than knowing exactly what it is that I do day to day.

anyone asks what i do.... "website management, design and search engine optimization" that's all anyone needs to know, especially living in the bible thumping south

if they ask from the get go i think you should tell them, if you waste time building a relationship and then you tell them they might leave and you've wasted your time, so better to find a chik from the beginning who won't walk away from you because of what you do.

you'll know when you have the right "significant other" to tell all your business too. until then, never let it all hang out

katdaddy 11-13-2003 03:27 PM

sometimes I feel guilty when I dont tell em and then again sometimes I feel guilty when I do! I guess there is a lose, lose situation hah!

dont know if you guys listen to your conscious, but sometimes it manages to get out and it feels good sometimes. Bad thing is that it will turn around and bite you in the ass when its loose :D

I think when you first meet a chick you should tell them there and then what they do!!! If they accept it then it's fine if not then go find another chick!!
