ever got operated?

a few years back I had an operation on my leg because they had "found an infection on my femur" femur being the big bone from your ass to your knee

they made a drill go down from my ass to my knee, trying to clean it up... I got a huge scar

turns out they never found out what was wrong, and what that "substance" which they thought was an infection really was, and I still get sharp pain to that leg on some occasions :(

what about you? what's your story?

Bone spurs in the elbow...Surgeon basically got a chisel and shaved them off.

had the bottom of my tongue disected,
that part that attaches, cuz it was two far to the front, so they took out the whole thing and then some, terrible pain for 2 weeks after, couldn't talk, eat, hurt to swallow, i sounded like that kid in "something about mary", warren,
"have you seen my baseball"
damn teachers made fun of me, heheh

thats fucked, but i've heard of surgeons that won't put you under cuz you heal a lot faster or something, like no drugs at all, GOD THE PAIN

Uvulapalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), cutting back the soft palate to stop my airways closing when I sleep (obstructive sleep apnea). They sliced off my oversize tonsils while they were at it. I could barely swallow a glass of water to take my painkillers let alone eat a meal for about a week, and I lost 7kg/15lb in 10 days.

The surgery was all under a general anaesthetic and I had morphine while I was in the hospital, it was the day that I got home that the excruciating pain started. Think of a throat so sore you can't swallow, then imagine someone is poking it repeatedly with the sharp point of a knife... I hope I never have to go through anything like that again. :(

Tore my meniscus so they cut it out (knee cartilage). I got some pain killers by they actually made more dizzy than anything else so I only took them once. The surgery wasnt bad, but I never got physical therapy so my leg muscles atrophied a bit. Besides that I couldnt bend my knee all the way for a while, Im still cautious about doing that even now.

My story involves a steel plate, 6 screws, a bone graft, and a 12 inch incision

and more pain than anyone should ever have to endure

During a c-section in 1987, they accidently cut my intestine. Wouldn't let me go home because the plumbing wasn't working right. Nurses kept telling me the pain (I have a very high pain threshold) was the c-section and I needed to walk it off. Finally after days of getting sicker and sicker (body was poisoning itself), they opened me up and literally laid it all out until they found the cut. I was in the hospital for another 10 days after that on liquid gold most of the time (losing 3 lbs a day).

I was actually very thankful that this had happened. As it was my newborn son contracted spinal meningitus and a staph hominous infection internally when he was 7 days old. If we had both gone home within a day or two after his birth, one or both of us could have died or he could have ended up severely brain damaged. I would have attributed my problems to healing from the c-section and his symptoms (which were mild) as being a cold bug of some sort.

when i was in elementary school i almost lost my right arm. while playing around with a few of my cousins my right arm went through a glass window(double doors that seperated the entertainment room from the rest of the house). i don't remember much after i saw the blood. after i finally woke up i was in the hospital with a sling on my arm and strapped down to my bed. i still have the scar under my right arm where they literally patched my arm back on.

OUCH! Those sound so painful. You guys are rock stars!
I have a few surgeries under my belt. i doubt they compare to most of these stories tho

Paratonsilar Absess..... couldnt swallow anything (including my saliva for 4 days)

Ovarian sists....

boobs... (thats self inflicted. Does that count?)

chedderBob 11-12-2003 11:52 PM

When I was 14 I went over the handlebars of my push bike, landing on my left hand and head. I broke the bones in my forearm, just above the wrist. One of the bones broke the skin and came out. I now have a metal plate and 4 pins holding the bones together. :(

To make things worse, the cops came and stole my cigs....fuckers.

I like to operate on my love-box every friday night. I take a scalpel and basically have a party. It's my way of dealing with the emotional trauma that was inflicted upon me by my uncle in the outhouse when I was young.

I had a spontanious collapsed lung when I was 18, they had to snake a tube into my chest and fill me with this acid stuff to scar up my lung, so that when it re-inflated it would adhere to my chest wall.

I was awake during the entire procedure, it was a living hell.

At one point the doctor leaned over me and said, "the surface of your lung is as sensitive as your eyeball!"

I couldn't even scream or cry it hurt so bad. Sometimes I have panic attacks about the whole thing, and it's been 18 years since then. Ugh.
