NetRodent 11-12-2003 07:14 PM

Amputate Your Head 11-12-2003 07:15 PM

I don't know..... shit just keeps failing. It all started around 10am... one after another, things are dying here.

Mr Pheer 11-12-2003 07:15 PM

you went postal in your office?

Mr Pheer 11-12-2003 07:16 PM

Get a multimeter

stick it in an electric outlet
make sure it doesnt read over 120 volts

sometimes transformers get fucked up and send too much voltage to your house, happened to me once

Amputate Your Head 11-12-2003 07:17 PM

on a positive note, I've lost 4 keyboards this year, but I always keep spares.... my spares are Antec keyboards. They NEVER fail. They're not the fancy boy keyboards most of you probably have, but they are fucking indestructable.

Antec = good shit

hudson 11-12-2003 07:22 PM

ouch, man...and the doorbell to boot?

xroach 11-12-2003 07:32 PM

Amputate Your Head 11-12-2003 07:35 PM

I have a ups on the systems, but the doorbell, the phones, and the DVD player went, and the drives on the UPS too.... something supernatural is at work here.

ThePornPusher 11-12-2003 07:39 PM

the miter is powered up.... but I haven't run it in the last three days... damn, I didn't even check the garage today.... now I'm scared of what might not be funtioning out there.

KRL 11-12-2003 07:51 PM

It's really not a thing to joke about. Sounds like you've got a serious electrical situation going on Amp and should have an electrician come out and check your main box and wiring. Misplaced electricity can start a fire in your walls in a flash.

Seriously, get a pro in there with equipment to check everything top to bottom.

jollyperv 11-12-2003 07:51 PM

Maybe a random EMP from somewhere.

So did you take the magnet out of your pocket yet?

Honeyslut 11-12-2003 08:06 PM

I hope you bought a year's home warranty on the new place.

Oh, or is that just a California thing ?

Gemini 11-12-2003 08:17 PM

You're not up for it... but get an electrician to put in a whole house surge-spike thingee in your main box. ;-) It took the hubby about 10-15 minutes to do. And then you don't have to worry about things as much, unless somehow power gets into your wiring system on your side of the panel. I think we paid 50 for it. And it also had phone and cable protector units included. :)

Your house insurance will cover the phones etc and I suppose you have business insurance for your gear? Well worth the few bucks a month it runs. lol

MrIzzz 11-12-2003 08:23 PM

keep the sextoys on low, they wont use that much juice:thumbsup

Ampster, shut the main switch off till you get someone in there before your house lights up in flames next and everything you have there is gonna be burnt toast.

Seriously man, don't fuck around with electricity. Wires can heat up inside walls and you won't even know you have a fire till it'll be too late to do anything about it.

Definatly would think its an electrical problem with the house.

Or...

Indeed Sun Flares. That shit is getting really hardcore these days. Alot of headaches and "spacy" feelings are evidenced when within high electro magnetic area's. The Solar flares are contributing to alot of not only electronic systems problems but also biological.

Peter Romero 11-13-2003 01:24 AM

Funny... right before I read this thread, my den light died & my roomate came in and showed me a burned out lightswitch and sait that the wall was hot.

Mr Pheer 11-13-2003 01:28 AM

just invest $20 in a multimeter and check the voltage in any outlet

chances are you'll need the multimeter for something else anyway since your a homeowner

- Jesus Christ - 11-13-2003 01:29 AM

Higly active week for solar flares; a few actually went off our scale. They cause a very large amount of electromagnetic activity. :2 cents:

PersianKitty 11-13-2003 01:30 AM

I have a scanner my dad got me a few years back. The other night I had it on while my son was getting ready to leave for work when I heard a call out for the fire department. It was a house fairly closeby and I wondered if it might be the same house that was pretty much gutted by fire about 8 months ago and just recently rebuilt. Turned out that it was, but I didn't know that until the next day.

The part that got me was that the dispatcher told the engine company going there that the fire was in the wall around the fireplace and that the homeowner had been putting water on the wall for the last two hours because it was hot. Well they got there, called for the axes, broke through the wall and doused the fire. House was full of smoke. They said it was electrical.

Why in the hell would someone, especially someone who just finished rebuilding after a major fire, wait 2 friggin hours to call the fire department? and spend that time putting water 'on the wall"????
