porntracker is an apache module that lets you track your porn. each and every image downloaded from your site is tagged with the username and ip address of the downloader.

when your porn appears on other people's sites, you know exactly who to blame.

Seems like it will work great for exclusive content. Not so good with purchased content.

sure. if there's interest, i can add a more advanced mark. the downside, of course, is a decent hit to the server's cpu.

Shifting pixel colour values at set points somewhere defined
by webmaster would be harder to circumvent.

Appending is not such a good idea as 80% of us use some kind
of copy bug on the edge of an image. When content theives
do their thing, they usually crop these off.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the CPU hit, enough sites
use the GD library very effectively in high traffic enviornments.
Sextracker comes immediately to mind.

no? a pixel-mod (like you suggest) could increase the cpu requirements 5-10-fold for EVERY image downloaded.

better perhaps would be to insert the data into some jpeg header which is preserved across saves. the comment field. or a color-correction field.

as i mentioned on the webmast board - i've put-together a version of porntracker which uses watermarking to encode the tracking data into the image.

tracked images can be resized and cropped by 50% without losing tracking data.
