What does Visa have against the AVS model anyways?

$25 a month (or whatever the small price) for all that content sounds like a good deal to me.
Why don't they like it?

because kids have CC's now

so haveing a cc doesnt make you "Of Age" to view porn

it has nothing to do with fee

as i remember (ive never done an avs) it was supposed to be Free Porn if you can Prove you are over 18 by supplying a CC

well my 13 year old cousin has a CC now

its not a age verifier

does that mean paysites are next on the hitlist?
they can charge a $750 fee to process for paysites, but not for avs sites?

That was another issue.

All the sites were hiding under the umbrella of the AVS which is now why they changed their text from..."1,000's of sites" to something like "1,000's of pages."

same reason microsoft can rebill me for 6 months on an old credit card for their msn service, and then send me to collections because i didn't pay the bill, i never used the service for 6 months, canceled my credit card because i do that every 4 - 6 months and to stop all rebills from online shit because i buy alot of shit, and the important stuff i will just give them the new credit card, and they continue'd stacking up the bill and now are trying to send me to collections for it. would be some shit if i had my adult sites if their credit card got declined for a rebill, continue'd charging them for 6 months and sent their ass off to collections

Seems to me Visa & MC would do well to have an "age verification" option for their cards, so a merchant can verify a person is 18+ or 21+ or whatever. Yeah it would mean some change to their system, but it seems pretty simple. Presumably they know who has the cards...they don't sell prepaid cards anonymously do they?

I think overall they made the right business call, giving CC's to kids, as they spend a lot of money. But at the same time it's going to eat into some of their other revenue from companies who want age verification.

FATPad 11-12-2003 06:47 AM

I thought it was two reasons. They don't like their cards being used as age verification tools and AVS's bypass the sponsored merchant system.

they should have joe camel on the front of the cards..same differnce. It is all about trying to hook them young.

Atleast we try to keep kids away from our products.
