Q: How Much To Charge For Advertising On A Site With 1 to 10 million hits per month?
 

Okay, I have several friends who have mainstream ( non porn ) sites that get a minimum of 1 million hits a month on up to 10 million hits per month.

How much should they charge for advertising?

Most real world mainstream advertisers run $5 CPM's and up.

Agreed.

That is pretty much the standard in mainstream, $5 CPM would be on the high end though, we have organized mainstream ad campaigns for clients where their campaigns across multiple sites cost less than $3 CPM over several months :thumbsup

How do you get to the point of running a site with that much traffic, and fail to learn what your market share and price is?

My point exactly. I run into goo gobs of friends who work mainstream who get stupid hits per day and can't generate capital to save their lives.

These two friends are very religious and do radio, tv etc. so that's why I don't post their URLS as they don't do porn. Yet if you had mainstream ad stuff they would be more favorable.

You would be suprised how many sites of a mainstream venue get stupid traffic and don't know jack squat about marketing or ad preps.
