webmaser refferals are no good unless you make sales as well
Let's say that I know someone who can make $1000 for you. It might take them a day or even a week, but they can do it.
Now, I can't make any money for you myself... I don't know how. But I know this person who does. So, after hooking this person up to make you that grand, would you still want to screw me out of money? Where am I going with this? Well, after operating my site for a while, there's one thing I've come to realize about a lot of programs in this industry..... if you don't make them money yourself, a lot of them just won't give you any money in return. There are sites out there that I have made a lot of referrals to... and those referrals have made them a lot of money. And they have webmaster referral programs where I'm supposed to make a % or a bonus or what ever. Do I ever see it? Not a dime. Why? Because I'm not making sales for them directly. Does it matter that I just sent them 20 people? 30 people? Does it matter than they've made an extra $1000? $5000?? Nope. So long as I don't produce some sales for them myself, I never see a dime of the referral money. So I ask again... if I could hook you up with someone who could make you $1000 right now... would you screw me out of money? |
some programs to that.. some programs don't
i know you should be promoting it at least a little bit, why refer people to a program that you do not promote? but i know some want you to be ACTIVELY promoting it in order to still get checks from webmaster referral income.. :( |
I don't think it is unreasonable for a program to insist that your account be active and a least a little bit productive. If it is in their TOS, then simply don't sign up if you can't abide by their rules.
But you're right, holding onto referral money that you earned isn't a good thing either. Best thing you can do is just find a way to work within the system, and check with the admin of a program before you go referring new people as to whether you have to make your own sales or not. |
So basically, what klik and CDSmith are saying is that a resource like SponsorsList is moot, because you expect him to be pushing over 700 sponsors actively? Come on.

But that's not my nature... I'll continue on referring people regardless of me getting the money. I like to think that my site isn't just helping the program, it's helping those people I referred... if they get sales, then my job is done. but me having the money isn't the issue, it's them being willing to pay me. I mean, it's the actual act of it.... nickle and diming the guy who is bringing them affiliates who can convert just doesn't seem right to me. |
I wouldn't screw you out of your money! nonono!

I really don't get why programs would be that tight-fisted.. especially if the people you are sending them are productive, honest affiliates. We used to pay our models for their referrals, I know a LOT of people pay finder's fees and whatnot.. why the HELL wouldn't programs be willing to put out for that? Just seems low and cheap, to me. |

If I ran a site like sponsorlist I would be contacting sponsors directly, before sending referrals to them, and negotiate a special deal so that I would ensure being paid for my referrals. The ones that will not pay under any circumstances simply would not be included in the site, simple as that.
And that's a damn good offer from Shemp. Nice to see good stuff like that once in a while. |

I don't think it unreasonable for you to write to you sponsor and ask them to make a deal with you.
The worst they can say is no. |
