US blocks payout to Gulf war veterans

Quote:

The Bush administration has blocked compensation for US soldiers captured and tortured during the first Gulf war, arguing that the money was now needed for Iraq's reconstruction, veterans' lawyers said yesterday.
Seventeen former prisoners of war were awarded nearly $1bn (£600m) in compensatory and punitive damages by a US federal court in July.

The awards were supposed to have been paid out of $1.7bn in seized Iraqi assets, but the administration stepped in to prevent them receiving the money on the grounds that it had been confiscated from the Iraqi government in March and was therefore the property of the US government.

Stoill looking for Bin Laden??? I think your dick shit prez said something like " we will have no rest till you bring him to justice"...

Well he could have if he wasn't a fucking cowboy:

Quote:

The same thing happened before the war with Afghanistan. On September 20 2001, the Taliban offered to hand Osama bin Laden to a neutral Islamic country for trial if the US presented them with evidence that he was responsible for the attacks on New York and Washington. The US rejected the offer. On October 1, six days before the bombing began, they repeated it, and their representative in Pakistan told reporters: "We are ready for negotiations. It is up to the other side to agree or not. Only negotiation will solve our problems." Bush was asked about this offer at a press conference the following day. He replied: "There's no negotiations. There's no calendar. We'll act on [sic] our time."

Your memory is fading, I've said it before, I didn't vote for Bush.

But, in a fight, people talk smack.
Bush was talking smack.

Eventually though, probably close to election time :Graucho , Saddam and Bin Laden will be captured and/or killed, and Bush will mind fuck America into voting for him.

Pretty smart for an 'idiot', I'd say.

Then you'll come here, and bitch about him stealing another election, holding off on the capture/killing of those two for political gain, and you'll still continue to be a bitter cocksucker.

Life goes on.

It is a travesty as far as what happened to these 17 people.
As much as we may detest litigation, they did go to court and win their case against Iraqi assets.

For the Bush administration to grab this money and prevent payment is tantamount to highway robbery.

I truly hope that they go after the Bush administration legally and at the least, make these pigs in the administration oink big time and at the best, GET THEIR MONEY!

On Veteran's day, at least one person understood the "insult" of the actions of this Neo-Conservative administration...

Bush has no respect for your own Justice system!

That's what you get for putting a candy-ass like Bush in the Oval Office. No respect for veterans because he's never been one. For all his tough talk he's nothing but a spoiled rich kid. A better choice would have been Senator John McCain. "McCain's naval honors include the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross." At least someone like him knows what war is all about. I doubt he would've screwed the veterans like that.

If I was a US voter, McCain would be one on my list, tough republican. He projects the image of somebody that has life experience, rationnal, reflection, honesty ,security even...
But this is not the case...

Better than this guy:

If so, the courts would have thrown it out: it is not to God W. Bush to decide....
