Women and Shopping -- is it REALLY that fascinating?
Whenever I go shopping, I write a list, go to the applicable stores, do the purchase, and get out. When my girlfriend and I go shopping, its an 8 hour "experience."
No wonder they made those central aisles in most malls so guys can get a rest while waiting for their girlfriends/wives/SO's to finish shopping. Shopping: its a man/woman -- mars/venus thing.:2 cents: |
yo got icq?

most women somehow think that buying nice clothing will change their unfortunate genetic configuration of their face.

I used to be like you. In & out. Now I'm just women (still hetero). Shopping can be fun when you actually have money to spend (no pun). Of course, if your waiting for them and having nothing for you to look at or buy, can be boring for sure. |
I have money and time to shop but I just don't see the compelling intrinsic value of trying on every damn shirt of a particular style or smellling every possible "candle in a cup"

I used to LOVE shopping, now it's a hassle because of all the idiots and kids in stores and shitty service and the mothers that bring their 3 or 4 along with them. I don't look forward to it at all anymore.. I like shopping online now :)

I somehow managed to miss the shopping gene. I can't stand shopping for the most part. I'm in and out of the stores usually.
Yesterday was an exception though. We shopped our way across Puget Sound, north through Seattle up to Lynwood and back down 405 and onto the boat again. I didn't buy much, but just looked around at stuff I've been curious about checking out. Usually the only place I can do that is Home Depot or Lowe's. I think I should have been born a man. :1orglaugh |

Whatcha doing up in my neighborhood? Checking out the additions to the Alderwood Mall? |
FACT: When men shop they "Hunt" - Fix on an item and go get it.
When women shop they "Gather" - Like to look around and see what is out there. Hence women spend more time "shopping" although the experience is entirely differnet for males and females. |
HeadPimp -
Never did make it into the mall, but we did buy a bunch of Xmas crap at Wight's for the new house we're in escrow on right now. :thumbsup I was also looking around for a good furniture place where I could buy some oak bookshelves and an oak dining table for a reasonable price. I didn't find one. Just a bunch of overpriced euro-crap. We don't get out and around on that part of the Sound very often, so it was fun to just pick our way through the streets, stopping where something looked interesting. |
They put additions on Alderwood??
Damn, I need to get home more often. |
Good point. Basically, thousands of years of socialization at work. Old habits are hard to break. There's probably sexual selection involved.... ie., men that manifest the hunting instict/proclivity were selected for and bred more. those that didn't, had less offspring.
