donald rumsfeld: lying sack of shit

Rumsfeld retreats, disclaims earlier rhetoric
Rumsfeld denies he ever made several pre-war statements.

HEARST NEWSPAPERS

WASHINGTON - In the lead-up to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said U.S. forces would be welcomed by the Iraqi citizenry and that Saddam Hussein had large stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons.

Now, after both statements have been shown to be either incorrect or vastly exaggerated, Rumsfeld - with the same trademark confidence that he exuded before the war - is denying that he ever made such assertions.

Guess he has alzheimers, or he's actually just that stupid. He's pretty typical of Bush's government, as far as I've seen.

Gemini 11-09-2003 10:42 AM

It's a contest between Rummy and Rice as to who lies the worst or as much. I wouldn't believe anything out of their mouths if I had saw what they were saying myself. lol I'd have to wonder if somehow they had hypnotized me into believing that I saw what they were describing. :helpme

tony286 11-09-2003 10:44 AM

It would be cooler if when he denys things ,they bring the video with them and show him.

stocktrader23 11-09-2003 10:45 AM

If only. I would do it!

eatapeach 11-09-2003 10:53 AM

what would be best of all is if they had called bullshit on him when he originally said these things.

tens of thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars later we wouldn't be looking back going "hey you were wrong!"

fuck these chumps, america deserves better.

Gemini 11-09-2003 10:57 AM

It'd be GREAT if one of the networks ran the original tape and then his denying it tape on a Special Report. lmao But they'd probably arrest everyone there for Terroristic something or another and whisk them off to some island.

HeadPimp 11-09-2003 11:02 AM

Ummm... Who really gives a fuck? It is the military. They never have had to tell the truth, that isn't their job. All they are supposed to do it go shoot people that piss us off.

My favorite Bush cabinet "Fuck American liberties" statement was when Ari Flescher (sp?) looked right into a camera and said, "People need to watch what they say" in reference to Bill Mahr's comments about 9/11.

The sad thing is they are all liars, both democrats, republicans, liberals, conservatives, whatever. They will lie in an instant if they think its in their best interests, although to protect their asses its usually a twisting of the truth and deception rather than an outright lie. If you notice the big boys are carefull most of the time not to literally lie so if caught they have wiggle room, ala clinton. I guess its to be expected because most people in govt, at least the big shots, are power seekers and will say or do almost anything........
But really, in my lifetime i cant recall another administration, at least from a major country, that has lied and twisted things around as much as the bush bunch. They are just incredible. And what makes it particularly interesting is that its immediately after conservatives spent 8 years pointing fingers at clinton for lying. They talked incessantly about what a terrible thing it was to lie about a blowjob, but evidently lying about things that get thousands of people killed, well, thats different. And dont dare accuse bush or anyone else involved of lying or youre not patriotic. Geez.

It's politics, what did you expect?

With politicians, it's not about who's lying and who's telling the truth, it's about who's lying less...

Has President Bush lied under oath in a court of law as President Clinton did? Do you recognize the difference?

Do you recognize the difference between a blowjob and a war?

You did use several qualifiers...but I will point you to the administrations of President Nixon (Republican)...President Reagan (Republican) and President Johnson (Democrat).

Nixon had nothing on bush when it comes to twisting things. At least nixon and others stated a few truths occassionally, but bush and his handlers seem to be nothing short of pathological liars. Again, they generally dont lie literally, they mostly just distort and mislead. Although in my opinion deception is the same even if its not technically a lie. I have followed politics a long long time and really cant recall an administration who did it more. The reason may be that its because the press has allowed them to get away with it so much. After 9-11, the press seemed to take the same attitude as conservatives, ie that criticizing bush was tantamount to being anti american. Add in the consolodation of the media into such a small number of almost all conservative owners now, and also the clear message this administration has sent to reporters who make waves. They all know what ari fleisher said about being careful what kind of questions to ask and they all saw what happened to helen thomas on the whitehouse press corp for daring to ask tough questions. What you have now is a press that has basically enabled them, something nixon reagan, johnson etc could only dream about.
As for your question about the difference between lying under oath about a blowjob (in a politically motivated lawsuit) and lying about a war, clintons lying didnt result in thousands of deaths. Simply asking such a question implies stupidity. You should really think about that old saying; Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open it and remove all doubt.

I loved what Rummie said today at a news conference:

"We have an exit strategy in Iraq. It's called success!"

The US Congress is probably the highest "court" in America. Has he lied in court? Yes.

Kingfish 11-10-2003 08:13 PM

The US congress isn?t a court. And for the record he didn?t lie in court. He was given a specific definition of what sexual relations was (in that deposition)and that is how he answered the question. If you are ever deposed and in that deposition the court says ?for the purposes of this deposition the sky is red) that is how you answer the question. It doesn?t matter if it doesn?t make common sense or you disagree with it. The sky is red. It shocks me how many idiots still clamor about Clinton Lying Under oath even though he never did. I guess they think if they repeat it enough people will believe it.

Lying under oath is ilegal...lying while not under oath is not.

You...nor I...nor the media...know if the Administration has lied about the war. That matter has been...and currently is...under investigation by the Senate Intelligence Select committee. Until their report is issued...everything else is speculation.

It is clear to me that you know little about the Nixon...Reagan and Johnson administrations. "Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are stupid than open it and remove all doubt."

dear idiot, you were probably only 10 when clinton lied under oath, nevertheless, he did.
He lied while under oath during his deposition on the paul jones sexual harassment trial.
Of course, being a liberal, you probably think sexual harrassment is fun and shouldn't be against the law.
:thumbsup

If I recall correctly the Judge required him to pay a substantial fine for lying under oath and of course Paula Jones was awarded several hundred thousand dollars. In addition his license to pratice law was suspended...I believe for five years.
